DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

Creates and maintains specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products in alignment with company, industry, national, and international standards, while contributing to organizational performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Documentation:

  • Create and maintain product specifications, including 2D and 3D models, utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) .
  • Ensure model and drawing quality by adhering to company and industry standards.
  • Develop complete specifications, including solid models, configured engineering bills of materials, and detailed drawings for manufacturing and inspection.

Configuration and Change Management:

  • Use PLM (Windchill) and other data management tools for product configuration and change control.
  • Establish and maintain baselines of product artifacts, manage changes, and communicate updates from concept to obsolescence.

Collaboration and Problem-Solving:

  • Process internal engineering work requests and collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Support product change management by coordinating with design teams and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in and contribute to Drawing Quality Reviews and standards maintenance.

Knowledge Application and Technical Skills:

  • Apply technical knowledge of engine products and components to create innovative and accurate designs.
  • Incorporate knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering principles into design work.

  • Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis : Create and optimize CAD models that support system-level design and analysis such as Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.
  • Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems : Develop robust mechanical system designs that meet lifecycle requirements in diverse operating environments.
  • Product Configuration and Change Management : Manage and communicate product changes while maintaining artifact integrity throughout the lifecycle.
  • Communicates Effectively : Deliver clear and concise communications tailored to different audiences.
  • Decision Quality : Make informed and timely decisions to maintain project momentum.
  • Drives Results : Consistently achieve high-quality outcomes under challenging circumstances.
  • Manages Complexity : Navigate and resolve complex technical problems efficiently.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent in a STEM field is required.
  • Regionally applicable certification or an associate's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Intermediate-level knowledge and 2-3 years of experience obtained through education, training, or on-the-job learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency in CREO (latest version) for 2D and 3D modeling.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Windchill and product change management processes.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and engineering terminology.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engine products, components, and manufacturing processes.
  • Good interaction and communication skills for working in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and applying new concepts and technologies.
