DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented On Site Service Technician to join our team specializing in Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics for our Service Department based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
- Customer Engagement: By engaging customers courteously and professionally, you will build strong relationships and ensure their needs are met promptly and efficiently.
- Efficient Repairs: Using specialized tools and following documented procedures, you will diagnose and complete less complex repairs accurately, minimizing downtime for customers.
- Preventative Maintenance: Coaching customer employees on preventative maintenance and basic repairs will enhance their skills and reduce the likelihood of future issues.
- Issue Escalation: Escalating unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors ensures that complex problems are addressed promptly, maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Documentation: Completing required documentation accurately and timely will support warranty claims, quality control, and business operations.
- Continuous Learning: By completing training aligned with skill and business requirements, you will stay updated on the latest techniques and technologies, improving your service quality.
- Work Area Maintenance: Keeping your work area and tools clean and in proper operation ensures a safe and efficient working environment.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and reporting any issues will contribute to a safe workplace for everyone.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- HSE Compliance and Zero Harm: Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations to maintain a safe working environment and achieve zero harm.
- Uptime and Troubleshooting: Maintain high engine availability by monitoring metrics like Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). Efficiently troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Service QuickServe Process Adherence: Follow the QuickServe process for repairs and services, utilizing Cummins Standard Tools as defined on QuickServe Online (QSOL) to ensure consistency and quality.
- Achieve 100% EEEC Participation: Engage fully in the Employee Engagement and Empowerment Council (EEEC) activities to foster a collaborative and motivated workforce.
- Willingness to work shifts and or overtime based on operational requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience
- Apprentice Certified Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Demonstrate knowledge of Cummins products
- Vocational training N2 from a relevant technical institution
- Locally valid driving permit
- Basic level field service work experience
- Customer service experience
- The time taken for technicians to complete a repair, starting from the first repair labor applied to the last.
- The percentage of repairs completed successfully on the first attempt without requiring additional visits.
