Designs, develops, and documents new data acquisition systems; serves as expert in hardware and software systems; coordinates and sets up tests;
troubleshoots problems.
Schedules and prioritizes projects in order to produce optimal results; schedules work by interfacing with customers both internal and external as well as support
groups within the company.
Specifies, purchases, and maintains equipment; fabricates prototypes; designs and executes field tests.
Uses a number of general tools including but not limited to digital multimeter, soldering iron, function generator, and frequency generator.

Job Summary:
Functions as a Team Lead and/or performs analyses, data acquisition and interpretation, technical reporting, and maintenance of Electronic Engineering tools and standard and specialized test equipment, while positively impacting the organization's performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively functions as the team lead for all laboratory work priorities and activities, equipment and instruments calibrations and maintenance, technical reporting and documentation, and interfacing with departmental management, customers, engineers, and other teams. Provides technical expertise and support for planning, scheduling, and testing on Electronic Systems test equipment and/or vehicles. Utilizes advanced skills and technical expertise to perform analyses and data acquisition, provide interpretation of results, and write technical reports. Actively mentors and trains other technicians in the use of specialized analytical instruments and equipment and test methods. Leads, develops and applies advanced test methods to improve laboratory capabilities on specialized analytical instruments and equipment. Ensures interactions with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions; develops and gives technical presentations. Ensures maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions. Leads and participates in improvement projects; demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks. Leads and participates in self and team audits and associated corrective actions. Performs other duties as required.
Supports and troubleshoots engineering test operations/measurement in multiple locations.
Manages schedules and organizes tests and issues; facilitates the prioritization process for testing. Works with engineers to develop measurement techniques; designs more effective measurement methods and data acquisition processes and equipment; develops and executes measurement plans; leads the troubleshooting process; verifies proposed solutions; designs and procures fixtures for special tests; creates software needed for special applications; documents hardware test measurements and test summaries.
Provides support to resolve test issues; leads the test/measurement and issue resolution process; may lead the development and execution of customer/supplier agreements with engineers.
Performs data analysis and documents in Technical Reports; presents test findings.
Provides technical support for customers worldwide.
Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work and to systems; participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR Position Profile Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field.
Experience:
Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
Department of Labor Certification OR four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Cross Functional Engineering Associate will join the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Production Vehicle Evaluation (PVE) team to be responsible for the validation of PVE test procedures for OBD/non-OBD fault codes in addition to learning how to install and operate mobile emissions measurement equipment. PVE work is required by California Air Resource Board (CARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for North America On-Highway products.
Evaluate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) on production vehicle, engineering vehicle, and simulation station for all Comprehensive Component Monitors (CCM) and other Emissions Threshold Monitors (ETM).
Previous experience with mobile emissions measurement equipment is preferred or a strong interest to learn required.
Provide technical support in resolving PVE DTC test issues
Support failed part creation and installation for inducing malfunctions
- Basic hand tools to be supplied
Update PVE test procedures as needed
Good understanding of diesel/natural gas engine hardware, systems, diagnostics, controls and calibration is a plus
Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
Self-motivated, highly organized and proactive
On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) knowledge is a plus
Ability to follow complex instructions or test procedures accurately
Experience with Cummins electronic tools: CALTERM, INSITE is a plus
Qualified candidates must have or be willing to get a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 3 months of joining the team.
