About the role :

The Hydraulic Engineer for Technical Tendering is responsible for the hydraulic aspect in the preparation of technical proposals for the turbine product, in line with the strategy defined with the commercial operations team. This involves conducting analyses to understand and meet the client's expectations by proposing the optimal technical solution that will secure the contract, while respecting budget constraints and schedule milestones.

Additionally, the Hydraulic Engineer leads all technical aspects related to the turbine product, ensuring a winning solution for both new power plants and the refurbishment of existing ones

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze technical requirements according to client specifications and participate in developing the offer strategy that maximizes value for the client.
  • Identify missing information and obtain clarifications from clients and partners.
  • Conduct site visits to gather the technical information required to prepare the offer.
  • Perform pre-sizing and optimization studies for hydraulic turbines.
  • Produce and communicate technical sheets for new or refurbished parts to other functions, ensuring a competitive offer that aligns with the established strategy.
  • Act as a technical project optimizer, promoting cost optimization initiatives while ensuring quality and delivery aspects.
  • Coordinate internal technical validation of proposed technical solutions.
  • Identify technical risks and associated mitigation plans, as well as commercial opportunities.
  • Perform hydraulic sizing of turbines, mainly in the context of replacement, modernization, and optimization of hydraulic wheels within existing machines.
  • Establish technical characteristics, performance, and technical guarantees, notably through numerical calculations in fluid mechanics (CFD).
  • Provide the required technical support to subcontractors within the framework of the offer.
  • Produce the technical documentation included in the offer.
  • Meet with clients to provide technical support to Commercial Operations and Sales.
  • Participate in technical development and expertise for tenders.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering
  • Excellent communication skills in English; GE Vernova provides high-quality services to clients worldwide, and the employee must be able to deliver services effectively in line with the company's standards of excellence.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in their state, or eligible to become licensed in the short term.
  • Willingness and availability to occasionally travel in North America

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in fluid mechanics or technical-commercial offers is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of hydraulic turbines and their behavior would be an advantage, including:
    • Numerical methods in fluid and solid mechanics
    • Inspection and manufacturing processes
    • Material properties
    • Assembly, commissioning, and performance testing
  • Passionate about technical and mechanical and/or hydraulic design.
  • Proactive and autonomous, with ease in interacting with other functions.
  • Creativity and innovation in problem-solving.
  • Synthesizing mind, analytical capacity integrating both details and a broad perspective.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multi-site matrix environment.

The salary range for this position is $88,200.00-$138,200.00 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10% variable incentive compensation.
