DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Troubleshoots, assembles, installs, tests, and maintains mechanical systems using necessary tools to ensure equipment availability and capability. Learns and adheres to safety protocols while working with electricity and other energy sources in industrial settings. May work independently and guide or coach others.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):

  • Immediately stop work and report any major injury hazards.
  • Report any work-related injury, illness, incident, or hazard.
  • Comply with all HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promote interdependence and support the safety of colleagues.
  • Correct hazards within personal control and capabilities.
  • Recognize the environmental impact of work and minimize negative outcomes.
  • Engage in HSE training.

Quality:

  • Apply high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, and equipment maintenance.

  • Perform and document preventive, emergency, corrective, and predictive maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks.
  • Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints and optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.

  • Complete training and personal development as required.
  • Actively participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to improve quality, safety, process flow, and employee development.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Position may require licensing for compliance with export control or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant work experience or specialized skills acquired through education, training, or on-the-job experience in mechanical maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all HMCs, VMCs, SPMs, and other equipment in the machine shop.
  • Ensure zero safety incidents within the machine shop.
  • Maintain 5S standards across the machine shop and Plant Engineering Department.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and discipline standards.
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities and troubleshoot issues within the machine shop.
  • Maintain and update the breakdown history and analysis for the shop.
  • Address quality and breakdown issues related to machines and equipment on a daily basis.
  • Prepare and manage various maintenance reports.
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) in the machine shop and ensure updates in the Cummins system.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new machines.
  • Lead projects focused on improving maintenance KPIs.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor the Maximo system to ensure timely completion of all work orders.
  • Uphold and improve housekeeping standards and promote workforce discipline.
  • Implement LOTO, risk assessments, work permits, and other safety practices in the machine shop.
  • Maintain the uptime, MTBF, and MTTR for all critical equipment.
  • Possess a strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and basic electrical fundamentals, along with knowledge of CNC machines and their operation.
  • Implement and enforce safety systems within the machine shop.
  • Provide guidance to staff to help them meet individual performance targets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of machines and equipment.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of general-purpose, CNC, and SPM machines in the machine shop.
  • Facilitate the integration of automated material handling systems with machinery.
  • Consistently uphold and enhance housekeeping standards.
  • Implement safety systems, including job safety analysis, risk assessments, work permits, and LOTO procedures for maintenance activities in the machine shop.
  • Lead teams of associates, ITI professionals, and DET trainees, resolving their issues and providing guidance.
  • Ensure workforce discipline is maintained.
  • Plan and manage spare parts inventory using VED and ABC analysis.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives by leading improvement projects to minimize business unit expenses.
  • Provide timely feedback on progress and issues to the business unit and maintenance leaders.

Additional Key Skills
  1. Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
  2. Knowledge of Machine tools, manufacturing fundamentals.
  3. Good Communication skills & Knowledge of Computer operating
  4. Good Analytical skills with proactive
  5. Team player & Basic knowledge of Health & safety
  6. Knowledge of Basic hydraulics, pneumatics will have added advantage
  7. Basic Knowledge of TPM, 5S, RCA techniques etc.
