Our Perth office is offering rare 13-month full time Mechanical Engineering Internship opportunities commencing 27 th January 2025 for current Automotive, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Aerospace engineering students who are keen to utilise theoretical skills learnt in their degree and develop practical skills in the workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES

About You:

To qualify for this undergraduate internship, it is essential that you:

  • Are currently studying a Degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering, ideally at an undergraduate level
  • Have between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete of your undergraduate degree as of January 2025
  • Are available for the full 13 months and be willing to defer your studies for that duration.

Note: Applicants that do not meet these qualifying requirements unfortunately will not be considered.

To be successful in this role, you will possess skills/abilities or be able to perform:

  • Strong academic results in Mathematics; Thermodynamics; Mechanical Design
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Some project management skills
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer literacy and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a team work ethic and the ability to think and operate autonomously and independently when required

This is a 13-month, full time, paid placement and the successful candidate will be required to defer their studies for the duration of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

In this role you will make an impact and gain experience in the following ways:

  • Being part of a great team of experienced engineers working with internal and external customers across multiple departments
  • Hands on experience in troubleshooting, data collection & analysis, failure investigation and root cause identification for current in service products and prototypes.
  • Preparation and presentation of information/data in engineering reports and PowerPoint to key stakeholders
  • Undertake project management on a variety of projects ranging from field test validation to new product or system design
  • Physical hands on work with Cummins products in their various applications.
  • Supporting engineering team members with testing, simulation, change management, logistics and planning for a variety of projects
