DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Software Tools Engineer to join our team specializing in Electronic Systems for our Corporate Business at one of our Cummins Inc. locations, or if applicable, your remote home office, within the United States.

In this early careers role, you will be involved in the identification and understanding of stakeholder requirements, developing specifications and the design, implementation, testing and/or release of software that interact with Cummins' products in a variety of customer applications.

As a Software Tools Engineer, you will:

  • Use the required computer languages and database skills to perform tasks in the software development process
  • Investigate product software problems, understand causal mechanisms, and recommend the appropriate action
  • Own problem products, systems, sub-systems, or services with a low degree of technical complexity and ambiguity
  • Obtain input and collaborate with product and software development teams and deliver verified software features, components, and builds to product teams
  • Apply and support the improvement of product software development processes and tools
  • Engage with the improvement of systems and processes

You will make an impact by:

  • Analytically investigating product, system and/or technology problems and recommending appropriate actions for problem resolution and/or optimization
  • Actively collaborating with key stakeholders and colleagues, using analysis results to impact and support the successful projects
  • Using Industry and Cummins specific tools and software which may include cloud-based / mobile App development tools / languages (Python/Java/etc.)
  • Integrating new technology into our processes to remain competitive in this digitalized world

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A College, University or equivalent Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
  • A postgraduate (Master's or PhD) degree may be required for select Software Tools Engineer roles.
  • Good communication skills along with strengths in logic, planning, and decision making
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree Programs Considered : Bachelor's, Master's, PhD

Major Programs Typically Considered : All Engineering Majors

2024 Salary Ranges by Degree Level:

  • Bachelor's - $76,500 - $93,500
  • Master's - $89,800 - $109,800
  • PhD - $100,300 - $122,500

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.

Cummins Full Time Requirements:

  • College, university, or equivalent technical experience required
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA or above required
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • 0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
