DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Product Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our DTO Calibration development in Darlington, United Kingdom.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Problem Solving: By investigating and resolving electronic application and systems problems, you will ensure that issues are addressed promptly and effectively, improving overall system reliability.
  • Process Improvement: Applying and enhancing development processes and tools will lead to more efficient and accurate system specifications, modeling, simulation, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Gathering input from customers, technical teams, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers will help you make informed decisions that enhance product quality and performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Your decisions in design, requirements, calibration, and testing will directly impact the quality and performance of electronic subsystems, ensuring they meet high standards.
  • Mentorship: Reviewing the work of less-experienced developers and testers will help ensure robust, reusable, and efficient designs, while also fostering the growth and development of your team.
  • Leadership: Leading smaller projects or complex components will allow you to drive initiatives that have a significant impact on the business, demonstrating your leadership and project management skills.
  • Process Development: By leading the development and improvement of work processes and systems, you will contribute to the continuous enhancement of operational efficiency within your functional area.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Coordinating and directing work among technicians and temporary employees, and assisting in the transfer of knowledge to less experienced engineers, will help build a stronger, more capable team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong Technical Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred) with over 7 years of experience in controls and calibration, particularly in powertrain, combustion engines, or vehicle systems. Proficiency in Matlab Simulink for software development and simulation is essential.
  • Product Verification and Validation Skills: Experience in developing product systems validation plans, managing product risk, and evaluating test results to verify and validate product capabilities. Ability to assess and recommend system solutions based on legacy and proposed capabilities.
  • System Requirements Engineering: Expertise in translating stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, establishing acceptance criteria, and tracking requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Ability to assess the impact of changes on project scope, schedule, and resources.
  • Leadership and Communication: Effective communication skills to translate customer requirements into technical deliverables and drive necessary actions within the team. Experience in coaching engineers, managing resources, and reporting calibration maturity using standard tools. Ability to learn and apply AUTOSAR/CSAR approaches to integrate controls into key OEM powertrains.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
  • Bachelors in Electronics/Electrical or similar discipline required (Masters in EE or connected disciplines preferred) with experience in controls/calibration ideally in powertrain/combustion engines/vehicle systems. Overall experience with optimizing engine/power train EE architecture would be a plus.
  • Effective communication skills especially in terms of translating customer requirements into technical deliverables and being able to drive necessary actions within the team and across teams (OBD, PCRA, CPE, etc.) will be appreciated.
  • Ability to learn and develop with AUTOSAR/CSAR approach and expand controls skills to integrate into key OEM power trains.
