DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Seymour, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Supportive Development : Assisting in the development and design of control systems will contribute to the creation of efficient and reliable machinery.
- Collaborative Testing : Helping with the implementation of bench tests ensures that all components function correctly, improving overall system performance.
- Software and Equipment Optimization : Altering software and equipment to meet specifications will enhance the functionality of sensors and actuators.
- Problem Resolution : Supporting and debugging basic issues will help maintain smooth operations and minimize disruptions.
- Cost Estimation Assistance : Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and drafting appropriation requests will aid in effective budgeting and resource allocation.
- Investigative Planning : Investigating project requirements and developing plans for solutions will ensure alignment with economic, personnel, and environmental considerations.
- Technical Support : Providing installation and technical support for PLC-based hardware and software will ensure seamless integration and operation of control systems.
- Team Collaboration : Working under the guidance of more experienced Controls Engineers or the Controls Engineering Manager will foster a collaborative and learning environment.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Basic level of relevant experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information:
- Role Expectations: This position will require the selected candidate to report on-site 100% of the time each week.
- Must be a self-starter with a willingness to learn, a solution-focused approach, and the ability to work efficiently in a plant environment.
- Must be able and willing to collaboratively participate in design reviews, troubleshooting events, and work in cross-functional teams to support plant initiatives, improvements, and goals.
- Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, equipment troubleshooting, design, modification, approval, and implementation. Hands-on machine issue troubleshooting with a primary focus on PLC-related hardware/logic issues, as well as other electrical control and interface systems.
- Must be capable of interfacing with Senior Controls Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, IT, and other stakeholders to effectively collaborate and deliver on assigned controls projects.
- Must have an understanding of Rockwell/AB PLCs, HMI, Asset Center, IT interfaces, and related equipment/software.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed to support improvement projects and address line-down issues.
- Experience with camera inspection equipment and Atlas Copco torque tools is a plus.
