DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Calibration Technician to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN.
Job Summary:
Assists engineers, under moderate supervision, in applying technical principles of measurement science as related to calibration systems and processes.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Ensuring Equipment Accuracy: By following established processes for Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) calibration, you'll ensure all equipment is accurate and reliable.
• Maintaining Traceability: Scheduling internal and external calibrations will help maintain traceability, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

• Responding to Out-of-Tolerance Findings: Your role in addressing customer responses to out-of-tolerance equipment will help maintain customer trust and satisfaction.
• Conducting Capability Studies: Performing gauge capability studies on new gauging will ensure that all new equipment meets required standards before use.
• Optimizing Calibration Cycles: Applying statistically optimized calibration cycles will minimize data quality risks and maximize equipment availability.
• Managing M&TE Inventory: Utilizing the M&TE management system to maintain accurate inventory and track calibration data will ensure efficient operations.
• Participating in Quality Programs: Engaging in inter-laboratory comparisons and Measurement Assurance Programs will enhance the overall quality and reliability of measurements.
• Supporting Quality Standards: Assisting with maintaining the laboratory quality system and applying knowledge of quality standards will ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Electrical Metrology: Utilize electrical measurement science to create and apply measurement processes that meet regulatory and customer requirements.
• Measurement Science: Analyze measurement processes to identify and quantify sources of uncertainty, ensuring accurate and reliable results across various metrology disciplines.
• Mechanical Metrology: Implement mechanical measurement science to develop processes that deliver precise measurement results, supporting design validation and regulatory compliance.
• Physical Metrology: Apply physical measurement science to develop processes that ensure accurate measurement results, supporting design validation and regulatory compliance.
• Valuing Differences: Recognize and appreciate the value of diverse perspectives and cultures within the organization.
• Laboratory Management: Lead technical resources and manage the business aspects of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with certifications and accreditations.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
• A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
• Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Compliance Audits :
- Assist with internal and external audits related to calibration and measurement equipment.
- Ensure calibration processes meet ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other applicable quality standards.
Developing and Monitoring Calibration KPIs :
- Establish key performance indicators to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the calibration program.
Document Creation and Review :
- Develop detailed reports for equipment that fails calibration, including recommendations for corrective actions.
- Review calibration certificates and ensure they meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Traceability Management :
- Maintain traceability of measurement standards to national or international references, ensuring proper alignment with metrology standards.
