DESCRIPTION
The Accountant is responsible for general accounting work required to maintain the department's general ledger. This role involves performing financial analysis of the department's chart of accounts and financial statements by identifying and analyzing variances. The Accountant ensures periodic tax accounting, supports corporate tax teams in maintaining proper records for tax assessments, and prepares monthly Tax MIS as per corporate tax team requirements. Additionally, the role supports the compilation of litigation trackers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, record, and report accounting transactions in a timely manner.
- Prepare general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure periodic tax accounting and handle GST compliances, including tax filings.
- Support corporate tax teams to ensure proper record maintenance for tax assessment purposes.
- Prepare monthly Tax MIS as mandated by the corporate tax team.
- Assist in the compilation of litigation trackers.
- Respond to inquiries from management, internal and external auditors, and the Sarbanes-Oxley audit group regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
- Maintain confidentiality to protect organizational value.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience: 5-6 years of experience handling GST compliances and tax filings.
Technical Competencies:
- Financial Analysis: Ability to interpret financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities, and risks to provide insights to stakeholders.
- Financial Internal Controls: Ability to assess internal controls, develop remediation plans, and mitigate financial reporting risks.
- Financial Regulations Acumen: Understanding of applicable tax, banking, pension, and local accounting regulations to ensure compliance.
- US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Ability to evaluate and apply US accounting standards in compliance with company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Education: College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Preferred Certification: CA Inter / CWA Inter candidates are preferred.
