The Opportunity

The Senior Director, Global External Partnerships Strategy is an important role reporting into the VP, Global Commercial Development that leads the Seqirus BU external partnership strategy, evaluating development and commercialization partnerships for strategic fit and shaping the external partnership strategy, aligning it with the broader Seqirus BU Portfolio Strategy. You will evaluate options through scenario planning and financial modeling to make recommendations to senior management to contribute directly to Seqirus' growth projections. As part of this, you will manage partnership oversight, being our representative to these partners, and coordinating cross functional post-deal integration teams. Across these responsibilities, you will work with our teams across Enterprise Global Business Development, Global Commercial Development, R&D, Medical Affairs, Alliance Management, US and International Commercial Operations, Finance and Manufacturing teams, to align external partnerships with our broader Seqirus BU Portfolio Strategy.

The Role

Lead Innovative Partnership Identification and Assessment for strategic fit and commercial opportunity, working in collaboration with Enterprise Global Business Development
  • Market and Opportunity Analysis: Evaluate potential external partners for vaccine development and commercialization that can enhance the partnership landscape for growth. Identify new opportunities for collaboration or licensing agreements that align with the portfolio strategy. Scenario plan, making recommendations back to senior management.
  • Due Diligence: participate in comprehensive due diligence on potential partners, including evaluating their scientific, regulatory, and financial strengths, and their track record in vaccine development and commercialization for strategic fit.
  • Competitive Landscape Monitoring: Monitor competitive trends, including market dynamics, emerging vaccine technologies, and changes in regulatory landscapes and make recommendations to senior management that might affect partnership opportunities.

Strategic Collaboration Evaluation
  • Strategic Fit Assessment: Assess the strategic alignment between external development or commercialization partners and the Seqirus BU portfolio strategy concerning vaccine development, market access, and long-term growth and lead recommendations to GLG.
  • Risk and Benefit Evaluation: Analyze the risks and benefits of potential partnerships, considering factors such as IP rights, regulatory hurdles, cost-sharing models, timelines, and scientific capabilities which will inform recommendations to senior management.
  • Negotiation Support: Contribute to the terms and conditions of partnership agreements, ensuring that the terms protect the Seqirus' interests while encouraging long-term collaborations.

Financial Modeling and Analytics Support
  • Lead assessment of market potential of the target our products and pipeline. Conduct market research to understand demand, competitive landscape, and growth potential for target's products.
  • Identify and analyze market trends, patient populations, and diseases/therapeutic areas relevant to the target company. Evaluate the target's market share and positioning in different geographic regions.
  • Lead development of commercial plan and forecasting efforts, and partner with Global Business Development and Corporate Finance

External Customer Engagement
  • You will be an important company representative to partners
  • Participate in capability presentations to potential partners to lead and attract chosen partners to the company
  • Attend external meetings and conferences aligned with CSL Seqirus' portfolio strategy to meet and engage potential partners and have exploratory discussions
  • Develop a network of key external team members to stay at the forefront of innovation and regulatory trends in vaccine development

Partnership Management and Performance Monitoring
  • Partnership Oversight: Once partnerships are established, and in partnership with Alliance Management, monitor their progress through regular meetings, performance tracking, and issue resolution, ensuring milestones are met and the partnership is progressing as expected.
  • Post-Deal Integration: Help integrate external partners into the Seqirus' operations by leading a cross-functional post-Deal integration team, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with internal operational teams (US and International) to support successful vaccine development and commercialization.

Your skills and experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-related and/or business discipline
  • Advantage: post-graduate qualifications (either completed or in progress) in marketing, life sciences or an MBA.
  • 12+ years of commercial experience across multiple teams in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or vaccine industry, with a track record in external partnerships, business development, or portfolio management.
  • In-depth understanding of the vaccine or therapeutic development process, from preclinical to commercial launch.
  • Experience with global drug development and emerging vaccine technologies with the ability to work with all levels of leadership, management and scientists
  • Ability to inspire others and position us from both a therapeutic and a commercial perspective for further growth and potential diversification beyond influenza vaccines and existing platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills to lead forecasting efforts and support valuations.

#LI-HYBRID - This role is considered a hybrid position that is within a commutable driving distance to the Summit, New Jersey office with at least 50% in person collaboration.
