Position Purpose:

Leads the Medical Team in providing strategic medical input into all relevant areas at CSL including Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Quality, Sales and Marketing, Public Affairs and Market Access.

To engage and build strong links with key external customers in all therapeutic areas of involvement at CSL. To lead in communicating and discussing both the depth of science behind CSL's medicines and develop strategic partnerships to facilitate the quality use of our medicines

The Medical Affairs Lead provides medical expertise to ensure optimal scientific positioning and communication for disease and products. Responsible for HCP engagement seeking advice and supporting education, scientific exchange, and research with respect to disease state and company's products. Identifies unmet medical needs and reinforces the patient focus of all medical activities. Collaborates closely with Marketing and Market Access/HEOR.

Lead, develop and manage the Medical organisation capabilities in key areas including C360 Engage, Medical Excellence, Medical Competency. Develops self and Team leadership by application of the CSL leadership competencies

Ensures medical activities and materials related to the company's products are compliant with corporate policies and the code of responsible business practice and government/industry regulations.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: List the roles and responsibilities of the position (please limit the number of responsibilities to the primary ten.)

1 Medical Strategy
  • Lead and develop the medical affairs strategy in alignment with overall therapeutic area objectives and overall commercial/ brand/ marketing strategy (one brand strategy).
  • Lead as a strategic partner to provide business solutions and contributes to strategic product and new product launch plans as a medical expert, working closely with Marketing and Market Access/HEOR for the country / region
  • Plan and lead medical advisory meetings, and conduct medical symposiums to deliver the latest medical knowledge in a timely manner.
  • Develops and implements local strategy for scientific interactions with the medical community including key opinion leaders and patient advocacy groups
  • Supports coordination of investigator led studies and outcomes research collaborations as well as local data generation at the national level
  • Serves as medical expertise/consultant and supports commercial, marketing and sales organizations, providing input into promotional and educational materials for relevant therapeutic areas

2 Interaction with Medical and Scientific Community including Evidence and Insight Generation
  • Provide leadership and direction to cascade medical strategic plan into operational goals and objectives
  • Builds relationships and demonstrates the benefits of CSL products to key opinion leaders, practice leaders, health systems and government agencies by regular customer facing proactively.
  • Lead the team to develop, implement strategies and monitor effectiveness for scientific interactions and maintain long term relationships with medical communities including interactions with KOLs and patients/advocacy groups
  • Leads medical in C360 Engage, medical excellence, medical competency, KOL development and engagement prioritization, digital/virtual customer engagement, new product introduction and building new capabilities
  • Explore evidence generation collaboration at a local, regional and global level by aligning global and country specific plans and evaluate opportunities to engage HCPs and patients on exploring data.
  • Drive the evidence generation and publication strategy in alignment with brand strategy with deliverables and milestones. Leads brand clinical gap and evidence generation local plans.
  • Facilitates intake of unsolicited investigator initiated research and contributes medical perspective to CSL brand planning
  • Identifies unmet medical needs and reinforces the patient focus of all medical activities
  • Provides medical information oversight to internal sources and educates outside health professionals and the public in the use of CSL products
  • Co-ordinates continuing education workshops, seminars, and programs for graduate physicians, pharmacists, and scientists
  • Facilitate speaker development and involvement locally and internationally;
  • Provide medical training to CSL Behring staff and distributors on the CSL product franchise and relevant therapeutic area

3 Compliance and Governance
  • Provide functional governance and compliance input to internal partners when requested, regarding proper information dissemination, documentation, labeling and review of promotional materials
  • Provide functional input on issues regarding compliance with corporate policies and the code(s) of responsible business practice and government/industry regulations. Final decisions to be made by the activity leader.
  • Ensure all medical activities implement in timely and scientific manner in compliance with corporate policies and the code of responsible business practice and government/industry regulations
  • Ensure all adverse events received locally are reported to global safety

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Education
  • Korean Pharmacist license
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as medical, pharmacy, biotechnology, nursing, life science or paramedical practice. PhD in a relevant scientific field would be highly desirable.

Experience

At least 7 years of appropriate experience with demonstrated relevant competencies required to qualify for this role.
