Job Responsibilities:
- Manage IFRS and US GAAP accounting projects, including implementation of a new standard.
- Assist in the consolidation and preparation of financial statements and notes disclosures
- Coordinate resolution of accounting and reporting issues.
- Perform month end closing activities including the review of operating company and divisional submissions.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and notes disclosures.
- Assisting with Budgeting, forecasting, planning process.
- Gain a strong understanding of reporting processes in financial systems, including consolidation, parent company reporting, accounting master.
- Conduct routine communication with business unit leaders and key partners relating to accounting, financial close, issues and deliverables, and other relevant financial matters.
- Lead the implementation of accounting policy changes in ERP and other reporting systems.
- Provide accounting policy expertise and training to various stakeholders (Finance, IT, Procurement, Operations etc.).
- Research and prepare technical accounting memos on issues such as joint control, business combinations, levies, pension, ARO etc. as required
- Prepare for and assist to internal and external audit requests and reviews.
- Perform and evidence SOX controls as required.
- Preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for senior management.
- Support requests related to presentation materials for management and executive level meetings.
- Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities to increase productivity that optimizes data efficiency and quality.
- Minor travel may be required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business and major in accounting.
- CPA required.
- Excellent IFRS and US GAAP reporting experience
- Project management experience in an audit context.
- Knowledge of SOX and internal controls
- Understanding of accounting within the manufacturing and/or construction industry would be an asset.
- 5+ Years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proficient in using MS Office applications
- Known ERP knowledge an asset, and/ or an ability to learn new systems with training
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, internal controls and other industry standards.
- Systems knowledge and interest are important to effectively utilize/leverage the ERP system in the performance of the role.
- Flexibility, initiative, and drive for change are key attributes to contribute to an efficient and high-quality team environment.
- Excellent analytical skills with an independent ability to recognize problems/issues and propose resolutions.
- Strong team player of excellent character, able to contribute positively while striving to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and influence skills are critical to support business in interpreting accounting treatment across CRH.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, collaborate with multiple stakeholders and handle complex projects.
