Job Summary
Oldcastle APG is looking to identify a Director of Human Resources for its North Region. The role will be responsible for successfully planning and implementing both tactical and strategic HR and Talent Management processes and initiatives for the APG North Region reporting directly to the APG North Regional President.
Job Responsibilities
- HR Partner - partner with the Regional President, the Regional Team and the Presidents of the 6 Operating Companies within the Region
- Support and work closely with the Operating Companies HR Managers to coordinate initiatives and company-wide processes
- Assist in union contract negotiations
- Drive the overall HR and Talent management strategies.
- Support businesses with recruiting, workforce planning, succession and development efforts
- Retention - assist Leadership with performance management and employee training and development programs. Foster an environment that promotes Oldcastle APG as the "employer of choice"
- Training/Coaching - develop regional training programs to ensure employees and organizational needs are met. Develop mentors and contribute to a culture of learning and development, contributing to the growth of future leaders of the business
- Employment Practices - Ensure effective management processes and procedures that comply with legal requirements and company guidelines
- Employee / Labor Relations - Ensure legal compliance and consistency in handling employee matters such as promotions, performance management, terminations/disciplinary actions, layoffs/RIFs, EEO-related topics
- Project Management - Lead specific projects and initiatives to further build HR capabilities across the organization
- Must have Strong internal customer focus, collaborative style and excellent communication skills
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources responsibility / experience in a manufacturing environment
- 7+ years of Human Resources management experience
- US and Canada HR experience is a plus. In addition to English, French and/or Spanish skills preferred
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College, preferably in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent experience
- Ability to travel 50%+
- Master's degree, Professional certification(s) (PHR, SPHR or SHRM) and collective bargaining experience a plus
