The R&PA team forms part of Group Finance in CRH, based in Stonemasons Way, Dublin. The team has responsibility for a number of key internal and external reporting and performance analysis processes including ownership of monthly Board and management reporting, financial planning and analysis, forecast and annual Budget, preparation of briefing materials for senior management and Investor Relations to support external results announcements and preparation of business performance related sections of the annual report. Hybrid working at present, with the team ordinarily based at Group HQ in Stonemasons Way, Dublin.

The opportunity is for an Assistant Manager on the team supporting the Manager with more complex tasks and projects and acting as a coach and mentor to more junior members of the team. The role will provide hands-on experience in tasks and projects but will also give the opportunity to coach and review the work of junior team members.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assistance in planning of preliminary and final budget processes and resources with Manager's support, review and provide critical analysis for the budget submitted by the Divisions with a focus on underlying assumptions of market and cost environment, key performance metrics and drivers of performance;
  • Assistance in planning and preparation of the business performance section of the IFRS annual report and Form 10-K, and provision of finance support to teams across the Group including external communications, sustainability and governance in compiling the annual report and related materials;
  • Assistance in the monthly Board and management reporting process including review and ownership of the related outputs (the preliminary results, Bluebook, Board Report etc.) to provide critical analysis for the Board with a key focus on critical trend analysis, key performance metrics and drivers of performance;
  • Review of divisional briefing materials prepared for Senior Management and Investor Relations, in particular at quarter end, providing key information on drivers of performance;
  • Review and analysis of financial reporting notes and disclosures, as part of the Group financial consolidation process
  • Assistance in system developments that are required in Hyperion Financial Management for reporting purposes, liaising with the Hyperion support team;
  • Strive for continuous improvements in the processes and deliverables; Ability to identify and resolve reporting issues that arise, identifying solutions while working closely with Divisional Finance and other teams across Group Finance;
  • Build strong relationships while working extensively with Divisional Finance teams on reporting requirements and analysis in order to provide greater insight into their performance and results;
  • Provide high quality ad hoc analysis to senior management as requested to support decision making


Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience
  • Team player with ability to contribute both individually and as part of a team;
  • Demonstrates integrity and trust, with ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality;
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative; comfortable working in a demanding fast paced environment;
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable liaising with senior management;
  • Good financial and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and a focus on results;
  • Ability to multitask within tight deadlines.


Your Education and Experience
  • Strong academic background, professional record and qualification (ACA, CFA or equivalent) with minimum +4 years PQE;
  • Experience working on high performing teams, ideally across different geographies;
  • Good systems capabilities and/or interest in financial reporting systems; experience with HFM system would be an advantage;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word;


The nature of the role is outlined above. Flexibility is required within the role, which includes some core elements but also periodic emphasis on more project-type activities.
