Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Real Estate Canada is responsible for developing, implementing and handling the business plans and strategies for CN's Canadian real estate portfolio. The role maximizes the value and the utility from CN's land portfolio in leasing, sales, development and land management activities. Furthermore, the role acts as the single point of contact with CN departments for all Real Estate matters.

Main Responsibilities

Real Estate Portfolio Management

• Collaborate with Canadian Real Estate staff to handle CN's real estate portfolio
• Oversee revenue generation activities, including sales, leasing, and land development
• Protect land ownership integrity by addressing trespassing, environmental issues, property disputes, and adjacent development impacts
• Solve complex problems or unusual CN system-wide issues related to Real Estate

Leadership Strategic Support

• Lead or collaborate closely with team members in developing and implementing strategic corporate initiatives
• Provide real estate expertise to support customers on major rail-served development projects

External Collaboration and Support

• Work with real estate service providers such as brokers, consultants, and lawyers to support department objectives
• Interface with local government, City Councils, and quasi-government agencies to advance land management and development goals

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (15%) across Canada.

Requirements

Experience

Real Estate
• Minimum 10 years of experience in real estate and railroad

Education/Certification/Designation

• Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics or Urban Planning

Technical Skills/Knowledge

• Solid knowledge of principles and practices in all aspects of an industrial real estate land portfolio
• Solid understanding of applicable legislation and regulations of real estate and specifics as it relates to the Railway
