JobSummary
The Labour Relations Manager isresponsible for collaborating with leaders to identify and preparearguments to defend the company's position on Labour Relations (LR) issues. Therole establishes, maintains, and fosters a solid working relationship withunion representatives, colleagues and clients to promote a cooperative andeffective LR climate.

MainResponsibilities
LabourRelations
• Actas a partner to leaders by providing knowledge of how to properly handle LRissues, and provide advice on resolution
• Interpretclauses in the collective agreement and apply them tactfully to ensureeffective and informed decision-making
• Collaboratewith the business to identify and prepare arguments to defend the company'sposition on LR issues
• Offeran assistance to line management in grievance handling and administration ofcollective agreements and all other corporate policies applicable to unionizedemployees with a particular focus on outreach and education with CN first linesupervisors
• Holdmeetings with union representatives to resolve grievances before proceeding toarbitration
• Prepareand present grievances at arbitration
• Prepareand conduct training on assorted LR matters such as collective agreementinterpretation and application, Canada Labour Code, attendance, discipline andeffective conflict resolution
• Managepeople to drive and influence change efforts and create opportunities toinvolve others in the management of change
• Developsynergies between teams in order to improve performance and embrace team overself mindset
• Developand align organization on an inspiring functional vision, deliver messages withimpact and engage people so they provide their best work, while ensuringunderstanding of complex information by different audiences
• Provideresources that are aligned with employee's career interests through projectsand development opportunities

WorkingConditions
The role has standard workingconditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday toFriday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tightdeadlines, handle pressure and manage stress. The role requires regular monthlytravel (up to 25%), and may be required to respond to client inquiries outsideof the regular workweek
Requirements

Experience
Labour Relations
• Minimum5 years of labour relations experience
• Experienceinterpreting and applying collective agreements and relevant federal employmentlegislation
• Experience inthe federal sector and Transportation sector
• Experiencemanaging a grievance process, including preparation of material for arbitration
• Experiencepreparing and presenting LR positions and arguments during union and managementmeetings, at arbitration, and at the bargaining table
• Experienceassessing and analyzing operational issues and making impactful recommendations
Any experience for these abovewould be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor'sDegree Labour Relations or equivalent
• Master'sDegree in Labour Relations

• Fluentlybilingual both written and verbal (English, French)
