Job Summary
The Expert, Business Analysis is responsible for identifying, eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating the business needs of users throughout CN and for specific projects or initiatives under the CORE modernization project. The CORE project modernizes CN's operations planning and execution systems (e.g., Service Reliability Systems (SRS), Train Operation Planning and Control (TOPC), SmartYard). The role acts as a liaison between the Product Owner, various stakeholders, and Information and Technology (I&T) groups (e.g., Architecture, Design, Delivery, Quality Assurance, Project Management). The incumbent translates the Business request into detailed stakeholder requirements and user stories, which the incumbent follows through the project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities
Gathering and Managing Business Needs
• Plan and lead business analysis activities for projects and initiatives
• Analyze project requirement relationships (e.g., affinity diagrams, fishbone, feasibility analysis) and maintain traceability of requirement changes and establish their priority
• Organize and facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings, while being mindful of the impact of organizational changes
• Create and validate current and future processes with business partners
• Map business processes and roles to activities (e.g., workflow diagrams, responsible, accountable, consulting, informed matrix) and follow the Process Classification Framework (PCF)
• Analyze processes to identify business opportunities
• Elicit and document business requirements from internal and external partners
• Analyze, synthesize, document, explain and communicate business information to technical teams
• Define and understand solution gaps and communicate the impacts to the business
• Support the product owner in program increment and product backlog prioritization and in testing activities
• Apply and ensure compliance with all I&T standards throughout the project
Cross Project Integration
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with other projects or programs to validate business needs
• Understand cross-project dependencies to align project deliverables
Coach
• Coach project team members on the delivery approach (SAFe methodology) and business analysis concepts (e.g., process mapping, user stories, acceptance criteria)
• Share business and expertise knowledge with project team members and with the business analyst's community
Business Analysis Practice Development
• Work closely with the Business Analysis Lead and other I&T stakeholders on the continuous improvement of the business analysis framework and toolkit
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (up to 20%) in accordance with CN policy for meetings within Canada and the United States (U.S.).

Experience
Business Analysis and Processes
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business analysis and processes
o Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Agile methodologies
o Experience in writing user story with acceptance criteria
o Experience handling and prioritizing Product Backlog
o Experience with Azure Development Operations (DevOps) and JIRA
o Experience using Visio
o Experience with process mapping
o Experience in project management methodology
o Experience working on enterprise-level projects impacting multiple stakeholders
o Experience working with complex systems in large organizations
o Experience working in or with Design Thinking and Lean or Agile software delivery teams
Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent Degree and experience
• International Institute of Business Analysis - Certified Business Analysis Professional (IIBA-CBAP) certification
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification
• Scrum Master certification
