Position Summary

The overall aim of the Internship Program is to provide a professional work experience for recent undergraduate/graduate students in communications, marketing, or related fields to fully participate in a busy marketing and communications department. The Marketing and communications Intern will help implement timely marketing programs for cancer service lines (breast, lung, colon cancer, etc.). This role requires excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and a knowledge of marketing principals. The intern must also be very well organized to handle a wide array of projects and be a good team player able to work with various staff members from many departments throughout the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, help develop cancer service line campaigns for the local community
  • Ensure the marketing campaign runs smoothly by overseeing various aspects of implementation and reporting back
  • Participate in the analysis of campaigns and help make suggestions for future efforts
  • Learn and perform assigned work to handle multiple tasks and changing profession
  • Perform other duties of the marketing and communication team, as assigned
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED and be currently enrolled in a College or University, undergraduate or graduate program

Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Communications, marketing, business administration, or health care administration
  • Enrolled or completed educational classes healthcare related
  • Marketing, communications, or health care administration
  • Basic experience in an office environment
  • Organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of current software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (including: Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Personal Computer
  • Must be willing to learn database programs

Additional Information:
  • To protect the health of patients and staff and to comply with new State of California mandates, City of Hope staff are required to show proof of full vaccination by September 30, 2021. Compliance is a condition of employment.
