Chewy is seeking a Senior Category Manager, Exotics to join our growing and fast-paced Exotics merchandising team. Location is flexible between Bellevue, WA | Boston, MA or Plantation, FL.

As a Category Manager, you will be a key player in handling partner relationships and driving growth for our small pet category. We are looking for a dedicated, high-reaching individual with strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. You should be a passionate, consistent, high performing, and a creative problem solver while handling details impeccably. You must be subject matter leader in small pets and should have experience with merchandising, retail, sales, and/or marketing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead small pet’s category; small pets include, but are not limited too; guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs, rabbits, ferrets, fancy rats, sugar gliders, etc.
  • Establish, build, and handle strong vendor partner relationships, including ownership across all assortments, pricing, cost/rebate/terms negotiations.
  • Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts.
  • Find opportunities within your category to optimize and improve product performance, including analyzing sales data, assortment gaps, and market trends to make quick, effective decisions for your business.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, supply chain, pricing, and customer service to ensure partnership as well as well-rounded planning and execution

What You’ll Need:

  • 7+ years’ experience with small pets
  • 5+ years of comprehensive business experience in ecommerce, merchandising, retail, FMCG, or similar organizations.
  • Passion for sales/merchandising and the willingness to move fast.
  • Confirmed operator, skilled in go-to-market, and with focus on execution.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Exceptional experience in vendor management/merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management.
  • Ability to lead, be forward-thinking, prioritize, and run multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and strong knowledge of retail math.

Bonus:

  • Business and leadership experience; both in bigger organizations and start-up businesses.
  • SQL a plus

Hub Location & Work Arrangement:

  • Hubs: Bellevue, WA | Boston, MA or Plantation, FL
  • Hybrid Model: 2+ days in hub location per week

Compensation & Benefits: 

Our salary range for a Senior Category Manager position is $129,500.00 - $207,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly Team Members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt Team Members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly Team Members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team Members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team Members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
