Our Opportunity:
We are seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to join our Payroll team in Plantation, FL! The Payroll Operations Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing and compliance. This exempt position ensures timely, accurate, and efficient payroll operations while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role also involves streamlining payroll systems, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with HR and finance departments to support employee compensation processes.
What You'll Do:
- Payroll Processing:
- Oversee and execute end-to-end payroll processing for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Setup and processing of involuntary deductions eg Garnishment, taxes, Child Support Orders
- Manage payroll schedules, local taxes, direct deposits and disbursement timelines.
- Process payroll adjustments and on-demand payments.

- Conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity.
- Ensure proper setup and maintenance of employee records in payroll systems.
- Stay updated on payroll legislation, tax changes, and reporting requirements.
- Accountable for the review of the payroll compare ensuring the effectiveness of key controls.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and discrepancies.
- Educate employees on payroll policies, tax forms, and benefits-related concerns.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and benefits teams to align payroll operations with organizational goals.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports for management review.
- Identify opportunities to optimize payroll workflows and implement best practices.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll activities.
- Training new team members in operating procedures and payroll systems.
- Support Payroll and HR project through testing to ensure accuracy.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, or related field; CPP certification preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in payroll operations or a related role.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g. Workday, Pro WFM, ADP Smart Compliance) and MS Office Suite (Excel a must, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Full-time exempt role, typically requiring 40 hours per week.
- May require occasional overtime to meet payroll deadlines or during audits.
