The Director, SCFR Planning, Portfolio Management, & Wealth Advice Tools will lead the activities of a the SCFR Financial Planning & Wealth Management Advice Tools & Charts team. In addition to providing the highest level of functional expertise in advisor-delivered financial planning, portfolio management, & wealth management advisor techniques & tools, the Director will also provide input to strategy development & tactical execution of Schwab's retail and Wealth Advisor advice tools leadership team.

- Translate Schwab strategic plans and goals in planning & wealth management to lead a team supporting advisory tool projects.
- Navigate complex problems, both analytically and organizationally, require in-depth knowledge of Schwab, partners, technology, & advisory techniques, retail portfolio management, & advice.
- Exercise judgement in choosing planning, portfolio, & wealth tools & chart best practices, with a focus on Schwab internal consultants, planners, and advisors and their service to Schwab retail clients, this does not institutional clients.
- Interact regularly with executives & partners in Schwab's retail, Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), supervision & compliance, & technology teams.
- Influence & advise senior leaders & partners on planning, portfolio, & wealth management techniques, decisions, & best practices, tactically in select projects as well as strategically as part of Schwab's retail & advisory advice tools strategy.
- Support with expertise on evolving definitions of advice in planning, investing, & wealth management the Schwab retail and Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) Advice Policies & Guidelines committees and Schwab supervision, legal, & compliance teams.
- Lead the team that manages the SCFR Chart Library and other Education & Advice Charts focused on markets, investing, planning & wealth management strategies & topics.
The Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR)
Since 1997, the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) has provided top-quality research, timely market insights, and practical guidance to help individual investors to make better decisions about the investments & financial lives. SCFR leadership includes expertise on markets, the economy, financial and retirement planning, portfolio management, wealth management, and investment strategy. SCFR also produces Schwab's stock security rating system, Schwab Equity Ratings (SER).
The SCFR Financial Planning & Wealth Management Team (SCFR FP&WMT) leads at Schwab with evidence-based research & content. The team supports Schwab retail & the Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organizations, by creating Schwab's point of view on key planning and wealth management strategies & topics. SCFR views, and processes, are then delivered by SCFR, or with Schwab retail or advice partners, in select formats for use by individual investors, internal advisors, & partners. This content includes published and/or internal Wealth Management Insights, Memos, tools, & charts. The team consults with and supports partners to create tools, training, solutions & products to self-directed clients as well as to investors receiving advice & guidance from Schwab.
What you have
- BA/BS required, Masters desirable.
- FINRA Series 7 required.
- Industry certifications (CFA/CFP/DIMA) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years in the financial industry, including 5+ years in advice tools.
- Demonstrated retail portfolio management including asset allocation, risk analytics, & management skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of wealth management & financial planning advice , & tools, including ideally Aladdin Wealth, MoneyGuide Pro, and/or comparable portfolio management planning and other wealth management, advice tools strong organizational, collaboration, and partnership skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to inspire organizational change/growth.
- Ability to set priorities & manage a team.
- Base Compensation: $116,100- $258,100. Your compensation may be different. Talk with your Talent Advisor to learn more. In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or other incentive opportunities.
