CarMax is seeking an analyst in Central Business Operations at our Home Office in Richmond, Virginia. This role plays a critical part in making inventory saleable for CarMax and providing great service to our Customers, Associates and Partners. Analyst Associates utilize strong analysis and decision-making skills to identify process improvement opportunities, develop department reporting, and support other critical operating needs. Central Business Operations is a collaborative and highly motivated team. Associates have the opportunity to hone their teamwork skills, gain knowledge about the CarMax business, and grow within the company.

What you will do - Essential Responsibilities
- Mining and analyzing business and Central Business Operations data, gathering requirements for reporting needs, creating tools and reports that supports the Central Business Operations team and business partners in making sound decisions. Presenting high-level analysis with value added assessments recommendations.
- Initiating and leading process improvement initiatives and workshops with the management teams that engage in root cause analysis, process evaluation, and prioritization of and future analytical needs including level of effort assessments.
- Train users on the use of the reports and dashboards with the creation of job aids and other tools as needed.
- Collecting Individual Accuracy Score Cards from the stores monthly and publishing the Teradata tables enabling Strategy to run the Store/Regional/District/Company Individual Performance Reports.
- Supporting Business Operations when there is a technical need in reporting and analytics.
Purpose of the role
The Analyst in Central Business Operations is responsible for supporting the team's analytical needs by developing, creating, and maintain reports and dashboards for the 4 functional areas of Central Business Operations as well as other Business Areas as needed. Other Business Areas that may utilize the reports created include Merchandising, Auction Services, Business Operations, and Service Operations. This role will be required to partner with other analysts' and business leaders to understand the business need and collect requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of business or store experience
- SQL, Teradata, and Tableau experience required
- CORS report building experience preferred
- Microsoft Excel and Access experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent
Expected hours for this position will be 11am- 8pm EST.
