Senior Director, Senior Commercial Credit Officer
Capital One's Small Business Divisional Credit Office, housed within the Consumer Credit Risk Division, is responsible for evaluating the risk implications of credit strategy, oversight of credit within the existing portfolio, and evaluation of new credit investments for Capital One's Small Business Lending and Card Divisions. The Senior Commercial Credit Officer manages two Commercial Credit officers and has responsibility for transaction approvals, portfolio monitoring, and risk escalation. The team is also responsible for second line review and challenge of the business's judgmental underwriting practices. The Senior Credit Officer is expected to promote balanced decision making, with an eye towards effective management and mitigation of credit risk. This senior credit thinker must encourage vigorous debate on credit strategies and on specific lending proposals. The Senior Credit Officer reports to the Assistant Chief Credit Officer, and must be comfortable communicating and influencing at the most senior levels of the company.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for oversight of judgmental underwriting in Capital One's Small Business Bank Lending and Business Card and Payment (BC&P) portfolios
- Evaluates individual loan proposals for potential approval, assessing the credit risks, portfolio implications, risk rating, policy compliance, and loan structures
- Approves or declines the highest dollar, individual credits in small business. Also provides consultation on lower dollar credits approved in the line of business
- Determines materiality of, and provides approval for, amendments to credits or extensions of exceptions on credits
- Monitors portfolios and analyzes market data to identify trends and conduct forward-looking analysis to mitigate risks
- Provides input on changes to corporate credit policy and ensures compliance with credit policy in judgmental lending
- Performs review and challenge of judgmental lending practices in the business, and consults on risk mitigation and opportunities for improvement
- Provides feedback to assist in the development of individual underwriters
- Manages the efforts of two Commercial Credit Officers

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or military experience
- At least 8 years of experience in commercial underwriting or small business underwriting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- At least 10 years of experience in commercial underwriting or small business underwriting
- Experience managing portfolio level credit risks, especially performing 2nd line review and challenge of small business credit
- At least 2 years of people management experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Chicago, IL: $240,300 - $274,300 for Sr. Director, Comml Credit Officer
McLean, VA: $264,300 - $301,700 for Sr. Director, Comml Credit Officer
Richmond, VA: $240,300 - $274,300 for Sr. Director, Comml Credit Officer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
