Risk Manager - Model Risk

Capital One's MROf seeks an exemplary risk manager to play a key role in helping the MROf deliver on its goals.
As a Risk Manager at Capital One you will partner with stakeholders across the Lines of Business working with model risk policies, regulations and processes. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization. Strong data and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment are essential to succeeding in this role. The role requires a well-rounded individual who is comfortable adjusting their approach to meet unique needs across multiple initiatives within a complex organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Autonomously coordinate, manage, and support activities necessary for adhering to regulatory commitments and requirements
- Provide direct support to ensuring the adherence to model risk policies and procedures through processes and controls
- Drive projects based on defined priorities, ensure scope of deliverables and timelines
- Identify ways to improve and streamline risk identification and mitigation processes
- Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work
- Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all level to manage, inform and influence outcomes
- Partner with other risk management functions and offices across the company to drive results
- Support additional risk management controls through management and escalation to ensure the organization operates in a well-managed way
- Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure results deliver on intent
- Partnering cross-functionally with stakeholders to drive results to regulatory commitments and requirements
- Drafting materials, developing communications, and providing training related to change initiatives
- Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments through working with associates across Capital One
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resource and meetings in an effective and timely manner and demonstrating respect for others
The selected candidate will:
- Exhibit a demonstrated track record of effective risk management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage tasks and related expectations
- Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive risk management initiatives and program efforts
- Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
- Demonstrate experience a clear understanding of model risk management frameworks and working with or applying the standards set forth in supervisory letters guiding model risk management, to include OCC Bulletin 2011-12 and FRB SR 11-7
- Demonstrate the ability to pivot and creatively problem solve in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple initiatives and responsibilities simultaneously
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in risk management
- At least 2 years of experience in model risk management, modeling, or data science OR at least 2 years of experience working with and applying the standards set forth in supervisory letters guiding model risk management, to include OCC Bulletin 2011-12 and FRB SR 11-7
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or MBA
- 6 + years of model risk management experience
- 3 + years of experience within financial services
- Experience as a model developer or model validator

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk Manager
Richmond, VA: $132,800 - $151,600 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
