Manager, Risk Management - Supply Chain Solutions (Hybrid)
Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) manages over 2 billion customer interactions annually for Capital One. SCS partners with over 25 suppliers and is accountable for ~$1B spend. In addition to managing and influencing every aspect of the credit card production and print media/marketing global supply chain (from paper mills to card manufacturing and logistics providers), this team delivers innovations across direct marketing and keeps Capital One out in front of the competition. SCS is embarking on an exciting transformation journey and we are looking for a Risk Manager to join our team!
Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. As a Risk Manager in SCS, you will apply your leadership and analytical skills across a broad organization that services a majority of our lines of businesses. You will lead a team of highly-skilled associates and control performers. You will be a thought leader on well-managed practices and risk management, along with managing highly effective processes owned by SCS. You will be responsible for conveying the risk management journey of our process and controls to various levels within Capital One. You will build on and manage over 20 Controls to ensure regulatory adherence. You will take your process and risk experience to elevate stories to leadership to build a strong well-managed community of practice, and to support operational excellence in our Supply Chain. This role provides a level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Customer Channels, Supply Chain, and the company.

What skills you need to bring to the table:
This role is ideal for someone with strong risk management and leadership skills, who is capable of identifying unique risks posed to Supply Chain Operations to ensure we remain well-managed. The preferred candidate will have experience working in Operations or Risk Management organizations within a major financial institution or servicing company, with a solid understanding of process management frameworks, risk and control methodology, control operating and design effectiveness testing.
Curiosity: You have a risk management based curiosity to challenge the way things currently work and are capable of thinking outside of the typical box to develop risk insights and drive solutions. Leadership: Influencing, challenging, and enabling associates to significantly evolve and lead through change.
Communication: You should have strong communication skills and ability to develop visually compelling stories for leadership. You can communicate and partner with your team and key stakeholders across all levels of the company to manage, inform, and influence outcomes.
Results Focus: You have a bias towards action, trying things outside of the box to derive solutions. You work in scaled agile frameworks and believe in iterative delivery with a focus on results.
Analytical: Ability to leverage data to build compelling stories of the risk management environment and how we should be progressing.
Customer-Centric: You lead with human centered design as the basis for decision making and influencing outcomes
Responsibilities:
- Drive SCS' risk management and well-managed strategy in support of servicing areas and in partnership with vertical well-managed teams
- Develop insights using process, risk and control data that identify improvement opportunities in the servicing value chain and work upstream/downstream to drive improvements
- Convey compelling stories about process, risk and control insights leveraging data to various management levels within Capital One
- Use analytical skills to conduct Risk Process Improvement, Process Design & Process Excellence
- Anticipate risks based on new servicing intent and work with servicing teams to address and mitigate
- Partner with well-managed and risk management teams inside and outside the organization to further leverage best practices
- Provide well-managed and risk thought leadership to current and new enterprise services
Location: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to spend 3 days per week working in office (McLean, VA or Richmond, VA) and the remainder of the week working virtually.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification
- At least 3 years of experience in Operations or Risk Management
- At least 2 years of experience in People Management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 2 years of experience in risk, audit, or consulting for cloud-based technology solutions
- Business Process Management certification, Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- At least 3 years of experience in Project or Process Management
- At least 4 years of experience in Operations or Risk Management
- At least 3 years of experience in People Management
