As a Senior Tax Analyst - Core Operations, you'll join a team focused on tax fund accounting and distribution planning for the American Funds. You will perform tax and distribution functions, including tax compliance, distribution planning, monitoring for tax law changes, analyzing, accounting, and reporting for all investment vehicles (e.g. mutual funds, exchange traded funds, common trust funds, pension funds, and trusts) and investment securities held by the funds. You will research and analyze complex tax matters (e.g., U.S. and non-U.S. taxation, state and federal tax returns, differences between Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and tax basis accounting) and recommend solutions. You may also assist fund treasurers with distribution requirements and tax strategies. You'll play a critical role in shaping and leading the day-to-day production and development of more junior associates. You will be a technical subject matter expert and will provide guidance to others on operational and technical questions.

- You have a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a relevant field of study. CPA or Master of Taxation and/or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- You have 8+ years of tax accounting or investment management industry experience.
- You have a passion for process improvement. You're well-versed in using Excel to store, present, process and dissect data. You've written versatile formulas to solve complex problems.
- You bring exceptional quality and attention to detail to work deliverables. You like digging into numbers, telling stories with data, and are well-acquainted with financial statements.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable and experienced in communicating complex issues clearly and concisely.
- You enjoy mentoring people, dissecting processes, and completing projects. You are a role model who others look to for guidance. You understand the importance of mindful communication when working within an inclusive environment.
- Your professional experience has included times when you've delivered constructive feedback to team members, verbally and in writing.
- You are available and open to work overtime as needed.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $121,652-$194,643
Hampton Roads Base Salary Range: $102,644-$164,230
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
