As a Principal Product Manager within our Investment Management Technology (IMT) team, you will join a group of technologists embarking on an exciting next phase to deploy data and technology to enhance the Capital System - our multi-manager, research-driven investment approach. This person will drive AI/ML product strategy and innovation for the Investment Group and will be responsible for introducing and acclimating the Investment Group to transformative AI/ML technologies. The Principal Product Manager will design and execute a product vision and strategy that evangelizes AI/ML for the Investment Group, who serve as this person's customers. This role presents intellectual and technical challenges with a significant opportunity for business impact.

The Principal Product Manager will be a creative and entrepreneurial leader who has a deep understanding of product management and can move fluidly between technology partners, the Investment Group, and external vendors. They will be an exceptional listener and synthesizer of information, someone who is comfortable with public speaking and is a confident leader. They will have a strong understanding of the AI/ML tools landscape and ecosystem, with a track record of learning new skills and picking up new industries. The Principal Product Manager will be excited about the possibilities of AI/ML and will be motivated by both opportunities and challenges of introducing it within the Investment Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, execute and drive the AI/ML product strategy for the Investment Group.
- Thoughtfully introduce and acclimate investors to transformative AI/ML technologies that are homegrown and externally produced.
- Evangelize AI/ML and emerging technologies alongside and for Investment Group investor-customers.
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with key industry players, shaping Capital Group's buy vs. build strategy
- Partner with engineering; manage and mentor early-career product managers.

- You have the audacity to think strategically, the ability to act tactically, and the agility to switch between the two - multiple times per day.
- You have a deep understanding of the enterprise AI/ML landscape and emerging technologies.
- You have at least 12 years of experience in a product management or product strategy capacity.
- You have a track record of successful strategic partnership outcomes, and a history of driving organizational transformation at scale.
- You have extensive experience with user research and experimentation methodology, as well as comfort with iterating hypotheses and deriving insights from them.
- You have demonstrated fluency in engaging with executive leaders and navigating complex social dynamics.
- You have management and mentorship experience.
- You are a self-starter with experience analyzing and understanding customer needs and translating those needs and requirements into product features and solution alternatives, applying critical thinking to enable trade-off conversations and decision-making.
- You have depth in financial services.
- You've been successful delivering high-quality solutions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Your appetite for customer data and analytical skills to extract value from them are superb. You have demonstrated success identifying and solving ambiguous problems.
- You have a proven ability to identify customer needs and invent new ways to meet those needs.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $201,203-$342,045
San Francisco Base Salary Range: $221,859-$377,160
New York Base Salary Range: $213,303-$362,615
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
