Job status: PermanentFull-time 1.0 FTE (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation: $55,485-$60,464

YOUR ROLE

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager/Director, Volunteer &Support Services, theVolunteer Coordinator is responsiblefor the maintenance and administration of Volunteer & Support Services'program including recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers andeffectively coordinating an integrated volunteer program to meet organizationalneeds.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervisesvolunteers & performs recruitment duties, such as screening applicants,conducting interviews, reference checks, selecting and scheduling applicantsfor all volunteer roles.
• Providesorientation and training to all volunteers, collaborates with Director andManager on the design and ongoing updates to all training content andonboarding documents. Monitors allvolunteer performance, follows up on any issues or concerns and takesappropriate disciplinary action.
• Workscollaboratively with Volunteer & Support Services team and other CanuckPlace Children's Hospice (CPCH) staff to ensure services provided by volunteersare meeting established objectives and outcomes.
• Communicateswith volunteers to ensure they are kept up to date on procedural, policy,program changes and events through volunteer newsletters, emails and meetings.
• Reviews andrecommends changes and additions to volunteer training content and generaldocuments as well as policies and procedures within Volunteer & Support Services.
• Provides generaladministrative support for the day-to-day operations of the Volunteer Programincluding scheduling, assignment of tasks, and maintenance of volunteer inbox.
• Maintains thevolunteer database (Better Impact), provides reports and statistics; providesinput on the Volunteer portion of the CPCH website as needed.
• Organizes andruns volunteer recognition events and activities including annual recognitionevents, education mingles, and others.
• Assists withCanuck Place Children's Hospice (CPCH) special events including, but notlimited to, Family BBQ, Winter Family Festival, and galas as required.
• Builds andmaintains interdisciplinary relationships with CPCH team members and worksclosely with Food Services, Housekeeping, facilities, development andadministrative teams.
• Coordinatesevaluation of volunteers and assists with the collection of volunteer feedbackregarding the volunteer program and other general input through surveys andmeetings.
• Collaborates with Director and Manager on theplanning and facilitation of VLT (Volunteer Leadership Team) meetings, VLTrecruitment, minute taking and other duties as needed.
• Providesback-up for the Manager role as required.
• Assumes otherrelated responsibilities, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevantdiscipline
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in avolunteer coordination role; or an equivalent combination of education andexperience.
• Completion of a volunteer managementcertificate is an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated leadership, planning,administrative, facilitation and organizational skills.
• High degree of discretion and maturity in handlingconfidential information and situations including the ability to work withchildren and families sensitively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of volunteer managementprocesses and procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of ateam.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal Englishcommunication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, andresolve problem situations using collaboration, consensus building andleadership skills.
• Familiar with the ethical guidelines, standards ofpractice and Volunteer Administration codes.
• Experience presenting and facilitating/training in alarge group setting and/or virtual settings an asset
• Experience with using volunteer database managementprogram (e.g. Better Impact) andintermediate experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and prioritizeprojects and tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain appropriateprofessional and personal boundaries.

• Evidence of Health Canada approved vaccinations must beprovided prior to your first day of work.
• Flexibility is necessary, as this position may requireoccasional weekend and evening work and travel within and outside the LowerMainland.
