YOUR ROLE
JOB SUMMARY
TheBereavement Clinical Coordinator role works under the direction of the Directorof Family Support Services, and guidance of the Clinical Practice Lead,Bereavement. The Bereavement ClinicalCoordinator is responsible for working with the clinical team to supportfamilies in accessing support and services and coordinator the grief supportoffered by Canuck Place. This role is intended to incorporate bothadministration and clinical aspects. The Bereavement Clinical Coordinator isresponsible for a variety of administrative processes to support thecoordination, maintenance and provision of quality bereavement programming, aswell as direct clinical support to bereaved families. The Bereavement Clinical coordinatorwill have a key role in co-developing and drafting processes for new andexisting aspects of bereavement programming. Direct clinical support mayinclude completing initial needs assessment, providing individual and/or grouppsychoeducation, liaising with community service providers and other clinicaltasks as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Administration- 35%
- Triaging anddocumenting referrals internally for bereavement services
- Compiling andsending bereavement packages, ensuring appropriate documentation is completedwithin the charting system
- Updating and managingmailing lists
- Coordinatingsupplies
- Creating andprocessing the group registration
- Triaging thebereavement emails
Direct Clinical Care - 25%
- Direct contactwith bereaved families
- Intake completion
- Provideinformation and resources, guidance to families
- Facilitate/Co-facilitatingpsychoeducation groups
ProgramCoordination -35%
- Drafting program processes
- Organizing assessment documentation
- Coordinating and organizing for the provision of bereavement servicesincluding liaising with internal teams for group coordination
- Liaising with external provincial partners, service coordination
- Work with subject matter experts to develop innovative resources andcustom content

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- College orUniversity degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work (BSW), Child LifeSpecialist (CCLS) certification, with experience in the area of Grief andBereavement support, or an equivalent combination of education, training andexperience. Must be registered in BC. Minimum of two (2) years of directpatient/client care experience
- Previous workexperience in Hospice Palliative Care, End of Life Care preferred.
- Previousexperience working in a pediatric setting or program (e.g., child counseling,pediatric hospice, or healthcare)
- Direct experiencewith children, families, and caregivers coping with grief, anticipatory grief,loss, trauma and bereavement
- Previous workexperience in a not-for-profit setting and/or healthcare organization an asset.
- Experienced inworking with volunteers and in multidisciplinary setting
Skillsand Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in provision of bereavement care services, family centered care
- Good computer skills including MS Office
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels
- Demonstrated team player and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work within a dynamic work environment
- Ability to effectively identify problems and resolve conflicts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience and comfort in working in changing environments, program development
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate evening and weekend programming
