Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Migration Engineer to join our IT team. This full-time position focuses on converting COBOL-based batch processes into Oracle PL/SQL 19c. The role is onsite in New Jersey.

Design and implement conversion strategies to migrate COBOL applications to Oracle PL/SQL 19c

  • Develop, test, and deploy Oracle stored procedures to replace COBOL batch processes

  • Optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code for performance and scalability

  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure the converted applications meet business requirements and maintain data integrity

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the conversion process and post-migration

  • Document new processes and ensure that all converted applications are well documented for future reference and maintenance

  • Provide training and support to team members and other staff on the new PL/SQL processes

  • Work with testing teams to ensure that all converted applications are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards

  • What You'll Need

    Required:

    • Proven experience in COBOL programming and Oracle PL/SQL development

    • Strong understanding of SQL and database management systems, particularly Oracle 19c

    • Experience with database design and optimization techniques

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

    Preferred:

    • Experience in large-scale data migration projects

    • Experience with other modern programming languages and tools, such as Java and Eclipse

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

    • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

    • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
