Over the last eight years, OpenEye has developed the field's most advanced large-scale compute platform, Orion, built on Amazon Web Services. In this position, you will be working at the cutting edge of cloud computing, Python/C++ development, and advanced MD simulation techniques to investigate the mechanistic details of passive membrane permeability of drug-like molecules. Your work will have the potential to make a major impact in drug discovery research and will likely be used by many pharmaceutical and biotech companies around the world.
We are looking to hire a professional Japanese customer-focused Applications Scientist to join our fun-loving global team at our Tokyo office in Akasaka. You will focus on helping clients succeed with OpenEye's cloud-based molecular design platform, Orion, but will include work with all OpenEye industry-leading tools. We are looking for a person who is always curious, eager to learn, helpful to colleagues and customers alike and ready grow in a supportive work environment.
What you will do:
- Leading technical presentations and demonstrations to new and existing customers
- Providing advice on scientific methods, workflows and appropriate use of OpenEye tools (both remote and on-site assistance)
- Answering customer inquiries related to OpenEye tools in a timely manner
- Representing OpenEye at scientific conferences, workshops, trade shows, etc.
- Identifying and developing potential new customers, building strong relationships with existing and potential customers
- Liaising between customers and the science and development teams at OpenEye
- Contributing to the development of molecular design platforms internally
- Conducting research in partnership and collaborative projects
What you should have:
- PhD in chemistry, computational chemistry or related field
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Business level English language skill to communicate on scientific matters and native level Japanese language skill
- Strong desire and commitment to work closely with customers to ensure a long, successful, and positive experience with OpenEye software
The following are a PLUS, but not required:
- Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Previous experience with OpenEye software
- Programming experience with C++, Python, and/or Java desirable particularly using OpenEye toolkits
Conditions

This position will require some travel, mainly domestic but occasionally to the U.S.
