The Data Foundations product group comprises a suite of horizontal products / services that support both data producers and consumers in getting the most out of the platform, supporting both target segments with foundational capabilities expected out of an enterprise grade data & ML platform. Platform products like distributed compute, compute marketplace, distributed storage, Identity and Access Management, Data Catalog & Lineage, Privacy make up the data foundations product group.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

As a Technical Product Manager, you would have the opportunity to shape the product direction of our Privacy Platform and related services like tokenization for various data production paths. You leverage a T-shaped understanding of data services / systems in use at Booking.com and the ongoing industry developments in the distributed analytical systems space to ensure the right technology investments are being made within the Data & ML ecosystem. Your knowledge of distributed compute and storage systems, and how privacy and access control can work in unison, would help raise the bar of the secured, governed next gen enterprise data & ML platform being built at B.com

Role Qualifications and Requirements

Ideal candidates will have some combination of the following:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a Tech Product Management, Engineering or Technology Strategy role, building products / services on enterprise grade scale distributed storage and compute systems in the BigData & ML space.
  • Understanding of batch and stream data processing at scale, operating on structured, semi-structured and unstructured data using both open source and cloud native distributed data processing solutions.
  • Experience with BigData services of public cloud offerings and building on top of cloud platform primitives.
  • An in-depth understanding of various approaches (and tradeoffs) of building a Privacy Platform for distributed Data & ML systems, offering a suite of services like sensitive data scanning at BigData scale, tokenization at rest and in flight, the handshake needed with data access management solutions on distributed cloud storage to enforce governed data production and consumption.
  • Good knowledge of data science / analytics techniques.
  • Experience making data-driven decisions, handling backlog, setting and monitoring KPIs
  • Experience with stakeholder management (finance, budgeting, team management, recruitment, external customers).
  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills are essential.
  • Experience with web analytics software such as Google Analytics is a plus
  • Previous involvement with high traffic (50,000+ visitors per day) on data management side, preferably E-commerce sites is a plus
