Our Flight business is one of the cornerstones of the connected trip. We ought to offer the best and most convenient flights to every customer, those that start their trip by buying a flight or those that are complementing their existing journey with a flight. We will do this by having the best inventory available at the most competitive prices powering a site that solves all the difficulties of booking a flight today!

Role Description:



Our Flights business is scaling fast and the Flights Commercial team requires an experienced commercial manager to drive business development and grow commercial opportunities with airlines plus other partners. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, results-driven professional with a sharp eye to identify business growth opportunities with partners and determination to drive execution amongst a complex set of internal and external leaders

The core focus for the Flights Commercial team is to develop and drive execution of commercial opportunities in order to accelerate the growth trajectory of the Flights vertical. You will be an individual contributor on the team, heavily collaborating with other teams within flights, with other Booking.com business units, and with our supplier (Etraveli) to drive near-term growth while building foundations for the long-term evolution of the Flights vertical.

This will entail owning business development with airlines and 3rd party ancillary providers, being a key stakeholder in building and executing our airline value proposition, plus influencing product roadmap prioritization of commercial opportunities. You will contribute to the vision for Flights commercial partnerships as well as participate in cross-functional efforts to bring it to fruition.

In this unique role you will be working on a high-impact area of the flights vertical, directly driving growth, and with direct and frequent exposure and communication to senior leadership. Combining a high attention to detail with an obsession to build new avenues for business growth and a natural ability to influence is critical for success.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintains and nurtures relationships with Etraveli Group as well as airlines, ensuring mutual growth and addressing any issues or opportunities for collaboration.
  • Regularly reports on partnership performance and progress to (extended) Leadership Team, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Advanced understanding of the airline industry and the travel distribution landscape in order to win deals and optimize performance.
  • Commercially creative and able to construct complex deals and customized solutions that fall outside of our standard models.
  • Bring new ideas to the table and present pragmatic solutions around technology, market trends, competitive landscape etc. Identify growth factors and blockers and work with the team to address these.
  • Analytically aware, focusing on growth and sustainability whilst balancing short, medium and long-term goals.
  • Strong comms and ability to influence central teams (product, analytics etc.) and co-ordinate 3rd party contribution to deliver success to Flights generally and on individual accounts.
  • Ability to represent Booking.com at various industry events (present at conferences, speak on panels, etc.)
  • Ability to source and secure large and complex enterprise partnerships, without much management/oversight needed.
  • Ability to drive commercial terms and represent deals that are in the best interests of the business as opposed to simply representing the (potential) partner's requirements and bringing those tasks back to the business.
  • Able to communicate effectively at C-level within Enterprise organizations
  • Demonstrated impact on diverse projects with clear business outcomes
  • Comfortable structuring partnerships and tactics where some value-creation falls outside of traditional Flights metrics (e.g. channel shift)

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Understanding the dynamics of the travel sector, particularly flights
  • Selling / consultative sales approach
  • Commercial acumen
  • Use of Salesforce or other CRM tool
  • Bid management, including formal processes (RFPs)
  • Ability to use Excel, Powerpoint, and any other technology to help manage opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills and can influence the right people at the right level
