Banking & Payments Technology Specialist

The Technology Specialist - Banking & Payments is responsible for banking connectivity and infrastructure at Booking.com. This includes implementing and enabling the payment messaging and banking infrastructure for Payouts and Collections across various Booking Product offerings. The role focuses on, but is not limited to, managing and continuously improving Treasury Management System (TMS), API connectivity, Open Banking, Banking Infrastructure and Bank Master Data. In addition, the Technology Specialist supports and manages the technical relationships with all the banking partners and supports different internal teams to meet the business requirements. Finally, identifying latest trends, and collaborating with banking partners on any new payment and fintech initiatives that helps to streamline the overall Payment experience for both Treasury stakeholders (Internal) and Vendors/Partners (External) are also key to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding, implementing and managing business needs around the right technology products/ and or services related to payments and collection.
  • Work closely with SWIFT Service Bureau/provider, Banks/PSPs/FinTech & internal Booking technology teams to integrate, implement and enable new payment and collection flows. Additionally, manage and streamline existing payment flows.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing various file formats (not limited to ISO20022,MT-MX, JSON) and connectivity setups (H2H, SFTP, Web Services, APIs, SWIFT)
  • Responsible for articulating the business needs and translating them into technical requirements between both Banks and internal technology teams.
  • Work with Financial Systems teams to handle issues related to Bank Master data, as well as to compliance & regulatory requirements.
  • Be the first line of defense, support yearly certification, security reviews and annual audits (external and internal).
  • Support Project teams, PMO teams, and management stakeholders with status updates and reporting as and when required.

Requirements of special knowledge/skills

  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience gained by implementing/supporting Payment products or working in techno-functional roles to support treasury and financial services in the areas of Banking, Cash Management, and payment operations;
  • Good understanding of various payment schemes, Treasury concepts, settlement and clearing systems existing globally.
  • Good experience in investigating and troubleshooting complex issues surrounding payment formats, connectivity, Bank integration, Banking, and Bank Master data;
  • Good experience or keen interest to learn the basics of SAP FI and BCM Modules, and overall integration between multiple systems that encompasses the entire payment architecture;
  • Sound experience in managing medium to moderately complex projects and implementation of products and/ or services related to payments and collection products, SWIFT FIN and FileAct (XML File formats), host-to-host/ API connectivity, Open Banking, Banking Infrastructure, Bank Master data, and Treasury Management System (TMS);
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Knowledge/Experience in Systems integration and know-how of middlewares such as Mulesoft.
  • Experience in handling compliance and regulatory requirements around payments
