How will your role help us transform hope into reality?

We are seeking an exceptional corporate communications professional to design and deliver communication strategies to drive launch performance for a European Commission approved medicine for people living with advanced and indolent systemic mastocytosis, expand the external visibility of Blueprint Medicines in Europe and strengthen positive international team culture and collaboration through effective employee communication and engagement. Based in Zug, Switzerland, the candidate will serve as a senior communications advisor to the international leadership, cross-functional and local affiliate teams with a primary focus on key markets in Europe and the international team, and a secondary focus on additional markets outside of the U.S. aligned with the company’s geographic expansion strategy. The candidate will oversee development of communication strategies, positioning and messaging, and other materials that will engage key audiences in coordination with local teams and agencies. The candidate will report to the US-based Corporate Affairs function and maintain a dotted-line reporting into the Head of International.

What will you do?

  • Drive external and internal communication of product milestones – including regulatory, pricing & access and commercial achievements – across key European markets
    • Develop effective communication materials and clear, consistent guidance for local affiliate teams to adapt and activate for use in alignment with the global portfolio communications strategy
    • Provide key European medical congress support, including for data dissemination
    • Develop and execute earned and paid media strategies to support launch objectives
    • Foster collaboration between local teams to establish consistency, collaboration and connection
  •  Raise external company profile and visibility across Europe
    • Develop and deliver company and executive thought leadership and visibility strategies including earned and paid media, awards, speaking/sponsorship opportunities and other recognition opportunities in a targeted manner
    • Oversee international digital strategies including social media planning and local affiliate websites in alignment with the global digital company strategy
  • Strengthen positive international team culture to drive engagement and organizational performance
    • Partner effectively with Head of International and International Leadership Team to engage international employees on business strategy, ways of working and employee well-being while ensuring connectivity and alignment with the company’s global employee communication and engagement strategy through various forums such as town halls, leader communications, manager forums and more.
    • Collaborate with the Head of International Patient Advocacy on patient engagement efforts, including internal storytelling and events
  • Serve as a highly effective collaboration hub for the key markets to accelerate business strategy
    • Bridge EU HQ with country teams, providing tailored communications and support for regionally focused strategies and tactics
    • Bridge company HQ and international teams, enabling seamless collaboration across global communication teams
  • Manage overall International Communications function strategy, budget and agency partners in line with business strategy and priorities

  

What minimum qualifications do we require?

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of communications experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in oncology and/or rare diseases
  • Extensive knowledge of the life sciences industry, including regulatory processes, product development, scientific communications, and reimbursement practices
  • Strong scientific and business acumen with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex science and program strategy into clear communication

  • Exceptional communicator with outstanding writing and editing abilities combined with a strategic mindset that enables purposeful and concise communication
  • Demonstrated strong senior leadership engagement skills, including through influencing, guiding and providing feedback
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of establishing collaborative relationships with internal partners and navigating successfully in a matrixed corporate environment, as well as influencing decision-making without authority
  • Highly motivated individual with the flexibility and creativity to excel in a rapidly growing and changing environment; confidence and organizational skills to independently work on multiple tasks
  • Extremely high level of proficiency in English is a must to fulfill the role, with other EU spoken languages valued as a plus
