About this role

We are seeking an innovative, hands-on technology leader to build and lead our new Data Operations team in Mexico, complementing our existing centers in other parts of the globe, such as India. This is a new role that will be part of leadership that will transform how we manage and process high quality data at scale and reflects our commitment to invest in an Enterprise Data Platform to unlock our data strategy for BlackRock and our Aladdin Client Community. A technology first mindset, to manage and run a modern global data operations function with high levels of automation and engineering, is essential. This role requires a deep understanding of data, domains, and the associated controls.

  • Lead the establishment and management of a new Data Operations team in Mexico, ensuring alignment with our global strategy and existing centers in other locations, such as India.
  • Work collaboratively with leads in other locations to form a cohesive and efficient global team, managing and evolving all operational aspects, including monitoring, incident management, problem management, training, documentation etc
  • Transform our data operations processes through the implementation of high- levels of automation and engineering, driving towards an AI-driven Operations model.
  • Ensure on-time, high-quality data delivery with comprehensive observability and support for data pipelines through a single pane of glass.
  • Live and breathe best practices in data operations, including culture, processes, and technology.
  • Partner cross-functionally to build domain expertise, eliminate manual inputs, ensure high quality, and onboard new data sets.
  • Lead and participate in transformation and automation projects to drive efficiency and innovation in data operations.
  • Develop and implement standardized onboarding processes for new data sets, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to existing operations.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for production deployments, ensuring that all onboarding and testing practices are followed and that releases meet the required quality standards before being deployed.
  • Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading data operations or similar functions within a large, global organization.
  • Strong understanding of data management, data domains, and related controls.
  • Experience with modern data platforms and technologies, with a focus on operations and automation best practices. Experience with Platforms and tools like Airflow, Snowflake, Power BI etc is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions and geographies.
  • Experience implementing, monitoring, and operating data pipelines that are fast, scalable, reliable, and accurate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members to foster a continuous learning environment.
