What is Aladdin Wealth Tech?

We're Aladdin Wealth Tech. We are a FinTech company with a start-up vibe but some big-time resources. Aladdin Wealth Tech provides financial advisors, and BlackRock's wealth advisory teams, with a suite of experiences that affords them portfolio construction, analysis, and diagnostic capabilities. About the role:

We're seeking a junior Software Engineer to become a part of our Client Delivery and Experience team within Aladdin Wealth Tech. This vibrant team operates out of London and New York, embracing an agile methodology in a dynamic start-up setting. You'll collaborate closely with client-facing groups to craft tailored solutions that enhance the onboarding process for new clients. This role offers a comprehensive journey, engaging you from the initial stages of requirements collection and design, all the way through to the launch and feedback collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced and sophisticated environment.

• Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment.

• Craft and develop innovative solutions to complex problems and identify roadblocks early.

• Deliver high efficiency, high availability, concurrent, scalable and fault-tolerant software systems.

• Collaborate with product management and business users to outline the product roadmap and ensure clear communication.

• Evaluate the software development lifecycle, improve processes, and implement standard methodologies.

• Collaborate with internal client teams to analyze their workflows and pinpoint inefficiencies, striving to improve the Aladdin Wealth new client onboarding process.

• Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing, dev ops and production support.

• Review the code of your colleagues and offer constructive feedback to uphold code quality, adhere to standard processes, and encourage knowledge transfer.

Qualifications:

• B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject area

• 3+ years of software experience in a commercial capacity

About you:

• A solid background in fundamental Java and related technologies, along with object-oriented skills and design patterns.

• Demonstrated ability to build outstanding software through diligent and meticulous methods.

• Hands-on experience in Java/Spring Framework/Spring Boot

• Hands-on experience with JavaScript, web development and modern front-end frameworks such as React or Angular

• Experience working with Git, CI/CD, Agile, and SDLC processes

• Experience in Linux/Unix

• Experience building modern software using engineering tools such as git, maven, unit testing and integration testing tools, mocking frameworks

• Excellent investigation and debugging skills, including an ability to resolve issues spanning multiple components of the stack

• Working experience with non-relational databases including Cassandra and Solr

• Great analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

Nice to have and opportunities to learn:

• Exposure to building microservices and APIs ideally with REST or gRPC

• Experience with DevOps and tools like Azure DevOps

• Experience working in an agile development team or on open-source development projects.

• Experience with AI-related projects/products or experience working in an AI research environment.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
