About this role
Job Purpose/Background:
The Risk and Controls team within Sales Practices and Operations is an integral part of USWA, responsible for the development and implementation of a robust oversight framework. The Risk and Controls Analyst will help ensure key sales and operational risks are properly understood and appropriately managed in order to drive better business outcomes.
Given the broad range of projects and initiatives, relatively small group size, and collegial business culture, the Analyst will gain significant exposure across the business and build in-depth knowledge of the workings of BlackRock's largest sales unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with process owners to implement and refine actions to mitigate risk, including detective and preventative controls.
- Perform periodic reviews of codified processes and controls related to information security, marketing materials, employee conduct, regulatory compliance, contracting, and expenses to ensure they're working as intended.
- Support and complete various efficiency and capacity-building initiatives, including automation / standardization efforts.
- Assist with various recordkeeping efforts and ad hoc data analysis requests.
- Collaborate with other business teams and risk partners across the firm, including Legal, Compliance, and Information Security, among others.

Skills, Experience and Competencies:
- 2 to 3 years of work experience, preferably in the investment/asset/wealth management businesses
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Inquisitive nature with a desire to learn more, fix things, and improve outcomes
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to know when to escalate issues
- Strong attention to detail; highly organized and diligent
- Aptitude for technology and automation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including with macros, and experience with Power BI
- Knowledge of and/or a willingness to learn how to use content, data, and project management tools
- Ability to manage own priorities, multi-task, and meet hard deadlines
- Team player; ability to develop effective working relationships with professionals at all levels
- A high degree of integrity and a commitment to excellence
- Flexible with shift timings
