This team is at the forefront of ensuring our systems meet the stringent requirements of the FedRamp program, supporting both our internal needs and those of our customers.
As part of this team, members will have the unique opportunity to design, deploy, build, and support our FedRamp-compliant cloud environment. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff 1 Reliability Engineer to join our team in Pleasanton, CA. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems while maintaining compliance with FedRAMP standards. This position involves collaborating across teams to implement and maintain infrastructure that meets the rigorous requirements of government cloud services.
You'll Get To:
- Ensure 99.99%+ availability of the services and infrastructure that spans across multiple global datacenters in private and public clouds.
- Build systems and perform necessary tasks to deliver against committed project timelines.
- Desire to automate everything.
- Provides work leadership to others. Interfaces with senior management to provide and obtain information and to build consensus regarding project direction.
- Maintain documentation and operational knowledge base.
- Adhere to the change management and other established processes and procedures.
- Respond to and troubleshoot incidents. Conduct root cause analyses.
- Analyze workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities.
- Works on problems of diverse scope. Participates in the design, development, evaluation, and troubleshooting of systems or major subsystems. Participates in architecture definition. Expected to deliver resilient, robust, durable designs.
- Participate in a scheduled 24/7 on-call rotation for second tier support escalations.
What You'll Bring:
FedRAMP Compliance:
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions that adhere to FedRAMP requirements.
- Ensure logging, monitoring, and documentation practices comply with security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to conduct audits, assessments, and risk analyses.
System Reliability and Performance:
- Build and maintain highly reliable and scalable infrastructure across cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Automate deployment pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and system monitoring to enhance efficiency.
- Develop and maintain tools to improve system observability, including metrics, logging, and tracing.
Infrastructure Automation and Operations:
- Develop and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and config management solutions using tools such as Terraform, Launchpad and Ansible
- Shift-left by creating new CI/CD pipelines for repeatability and secure software delivery.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery strategies are in place and tested regularly.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to establish reliability best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior team members in adopting best practices and patterns for reliability engineering.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8 - 10+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS) and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, GKE, and EKS.
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Experience with CI/CD frameworks and Pipeline-as-Code such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Istio, Argo, and Artifactory, etc.
- Experience with branching strategies and efficient promotion of environments
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) and log management.
- Prior C#, .NET, Python, Go or Java development experience, preferably in an agile SaaS environment.
- Knowledge of web security protocols including HTTP, SSL/TLS, DNS, SQL, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with SIEMs such as Splunk and Chronicle.
We're Even More Excited If You Have:
FedRAMP Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience implementing systems compliant with FedRAMP Moderate or High requirements.
- Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST 800-53 or ISO 27001.
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, or similar).
- Experience with serverless technologies and microservices architecture.
- Experience in building Security policy as a service
- Experience with automating user access flow using jira workflows is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proven track record of driving reliability and compliance in complex systems.

Salary Range:
USD $160,000.00 - USD $213,000.00
Pay Transparency Statement:
Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
