Make Your Mark:

The Finance Manager in Corporate FP&A is a high visibility role within our Finance team supporting our CFO and partners with FP&A, Accounting, HR and other companywide functions to own the corporate financial model, levers, and key assumptions, provide strategic insights, and cost management. Additionally, you will enhance financial visibility, control, and planning through scalable processes and systems. Responsibilities include owning the company monthly close variance, forecast, and risk and opportunity updates to our CFO, developing driver based forecast models for payroll (including fringe, taxes, incentives and stock-based compensation), share count, office expenses, capex, depreciation & amortization waterfalls, and allocations, and building and maintaining our AOP and LRP planning models.

You'll Get To:

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual operating plan and quarterly/monthly forecasts for corp assumptions. Ensure alignment with overall company financial goals. Support company-wide spend planning and forecasting by consolidating inputs from all business units, conducting detailed financial modeling and analysis, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive informed decision-making. Own all payroll/fringe forecasting collaborating with HR compensation and benefit teams and other key corp assumptions including facilities, capitalization, and allocations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis and review of unit economics to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements to achieve our corporate-level targets. Ensure timely and accurate analysis of actual results vs. budgets, forecasts and financial trends. Identify areas of financial risk and opportunity and present bi-weekly R&O updates to our CFO. Perform forecast validation, identifying key variances, analyzing root causes, and reconciling forecasts with corporate targets.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial actuals/forecasts vs plan to senior management including functional and operating p&ls, cash flow, and balance sheet. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data. Prepare financial presentations and assemble forecast decks, including spend-related slides, by collecting and structuring relevant data to support executive discussions. Own the monthly p&l flash, close, R&O updates, quarterly business review, and other critical inspection and decision mechanisms within FP&A including presentations to executive management. Analyze, forecast and report on fixed and variable expenses with potential scope expansion to include top line drivers (e.g. bookings, billings, ARR)
  • Strategic Planning: You will drive our Long Range and Annual Planning process including, maintaining and reviewing models with management, providing insightful analyses, and making strategic recommendations on risks and opportunities.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and control corp related expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints, and solving gaps to corporate targets. Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement. Support implementation of Zero base and Driver based budgeting.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other finance teams, including FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, and Investor Relations to ensure cohesive financial management across the organization. Provide support to all BlackLine's business teams with a focus on corporate FP&A, including analysis, financial modeling and reporting of business activity across geographies, product and sales segments and channels.
  • Process Improvement: You will deliver improvement and increasing efficiency to our financial close, planning and reforecast cycles, partnering closely with the broader FP&A, Finance team, and Business leaders. Contribute to the digitization and optimization of financial planning processes by supporting the adoption of Adaptive and other cloud/AI-based platforms. Proactively identify, design and implement enhancements to existing planning processes and systems
  • Corporate Assumptions: Create and maintain detailed metrics and supporting tops down and bottoms up models such as tracking payroll tax rates (multiple jurisdictions), stock-based compensation, basic/diluted share count forecast, health insurance, 401k, office/facilities related expenses, capex, and depreciation & amortization of fixed assets, allocations, and Internally Developed Software (IDS).

What You'll Bring:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.

Experience: 4+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with a focus on corporate finance/G&A functions. Prior GAAP and Corporate FP&A experiences at a US public company is a must have. Strong experience with complex financial modeling, problem solving, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Ability to communicate effectively and present information: one-on-one, small groups, functional leaders, and senior management in the Finance organization. Previous management experience is a plus.

Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and highly competent at performing both tops down and bottoms up analysis to meet the desired business need. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting. Excellent communication and presentation skills to senior management.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with financial software and ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, Workday) is preferred and Tableau is a plus

Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and self-service financial and operational data required. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to conduct executive level meetings with pre-read materials, agenda, and takeaway action items.

We're Even More Excited If You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Corporate FP&A function
  • Big 4 accounting experience
  • Experience with master data management
  • Strong drive for data integrity, building processes, and reaching solutions from scratch
  • Subject matter expert and report designer in software tools such as Adaptive Insights, NetSuite, Salesforce, and Tableau
  • Familiarity with system operations in a Corp FP&A setting, including processing and refreshing forecasts, corp assumptions (e.g. merit increase, inflation, tax rates), reporting and self-service capabilities
  • Open to candidates in Los Angeles, Pleasanton, and New York

Salary Range:

USD $128,000.00 - USD $160,000.00

Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
