Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and empathetic Rare Diseases BU Head to join our team in Mexico City CDMX, Mexico. In this critical role, you will spearhead our efforts in addressing the unique challenges faced by patients with rare diseases, driving innovation and improving patient outcomes.
You will lead the cross-functional team to develop the LAN strategies of rare diseases (SMA; ELA; FA; others) in order to enable them to achieve and exceed sales objectives. This job is responsible for the overall performance of the business (P&L), marketing and sales results. In addition, this job is part of the local Leadership Team and contributes to the overall performance of the LAN affiliate. (Colombia and Mexico)

- Develop and execute strategic plans to advance our rare disease portfolio and initiatives
- Lead cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of rare disease programs for Sales and Marketing
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify unmet needs in the rare disease community
- Analyze complex data sets to inform decision-making and strategy development
- Represent the company at conferences, meetings, and interactions with key opinion leaders in the rare disease field
- Foster relationships with private and public market.
- Drive awareness and education initiatives around rare diseases
- Identify and evaluate potential partnerships or acquisition opportunities in the rare disease space
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in all rare disease-related activities
- Mentor and develop team members to build a strong rare disease expertise within the organization
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Public Relations or related field (MD, PharmD, PhD preferred)
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a focus on rare diseases
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful rare disease strategies
- In-depth knowledge of rare diseases, orphan drug development, and global healthcare systems
- Strong understanding of rare disease policies and regulations
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Exceptional analytical and data interpretation skills
- Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, with experience in stakeholder management
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional team environments
- Familiarity with patient advocacy groups and healthcare providers in the rare disease space
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
- Fluency in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
- Based in Mexico City or available to relocate.
