About This Role

The person will be responsible for enhancing the company’s reputation in Japan by implementing pro-active communication tactics targeted towards multiple external and internal stakeholders. External stakeholders include media, industry, and general public who influence the reputation of Biogen Japan from various aspects. Internal stakeholders include senior management and employees.

The incumbent will support the commercial functions to drive business results by aligning the internal and external communications along with the communications activities. This person will strongly contribute to implement external communications activities for the company´s marketed products and pipeline as well as disease awareness initiatives by following the strategy defined by the head of Corporate Affairs.  The incumbent will also develop and execute internal communication programs that educate, engage and enable employees by providing clear, consistent messaging on Biogen’s mission, vision and progress towards achieving the stated goals and contribute to an overall culture of excellence and innovation.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop strategic communication plans and tactics to support brand and therapeutic areas strategy and business goals (e.g. media activities and internal communications at major milestones, such as submission, approval, launch and major data presentation at the medical congress).  Collaborate with digital communication in CE&O department to better leverage created communication contents.
  • Develop strategic plans for disease awareness campaign aligned with the agreed strategy and goals with commercial functions and medical (e.g. disease awareness day events related to existing products (MS, SMA, AD, ALS)
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key target journalists with contracted PR agencies.
  • Develop plans and execute internal communication programs that educate, engage and enable employees to work toward the same goal as a company (e.g. Townhall meetings, employee engagement programs, communication by using internal communication platforms (intranet, in-house SNS, etc)
  • Develop strategies and plans for Biogen Japan’s corporate website to disclose corporate messages and attract talents.
  • Develop strategies for developing corporate materials (e.g. corporate video/CM, etc)

Qualifications

    Required Skills

    • Experience in communications in pharmaceutical industry or PR agencies (external communications and preferrably internal communications) for 5-7 years is required.
    • Professional communication capabilities both in Japanese and English is mandatory.

     

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience in pharmaceutical industry is preferable. 
    • Bachelor’s Degree.Specialization is flexible.
