Job Description
The head of ANZ Finance will be the finance business partner of the ANZ MD and a vital member of the ANZ management team.
You will report to the APAC Head of Finance and oversee all accounting activities in collaboration with Biogen’s APAC GBS team and will be responsible for all planning activities in the affiliate.
You will also be responsible for facilities management, including but not limited to Work Health and Safety, Business Continuity Planning, and Security, as well as procurement and supervises the Procurement & Contracts Coordinator, ensuring the ANZ affiliate fulfils value for money sourcing and adherence to Biogen procurement guidelines and processes.
- Overall Management:
- Ownership of affiliate P&L; partner with MD and affiliate function heads to deliver financial targets compliantly
- Drive OPEX discipline within the affiliate and achieve leveraged P&L YoY
- Strong finance stewardship over business deals; W/S negotiations; vendor management
- Collaboration with local businesses to develop and execute operation plans with business partner
- Represents local affiliate dealing with banks, tax authorities, and various financial institutions
- Support effective business planning processes by designing analytics for thought leadership and decision-making.

- Advise on affiliate business and performance and contribute to identifying organizational opportunities and effectively addressing risks.
- Oversee all aspects of local financial, administrative, and operational activities and procedures to optimize and protect the affiliate’s profits.
- Provide financial updates for the business function and communicate financial guidance for forecasts, annual budget planning, etc.
- Responsible for a month-end closing call with the International Controller and address any accounting/planning issues within the affiliate business (i.e., audits, actual results, weigh-in/approve pricing negotiations with Partners, etc.)
- Develop and own the financial analysis on all new deals with partners and represent Finance in all new negotiations
- Responsible for tax and statuary filings, as well as compliance with the company’s Internal Controls and SOX requirements
- Ensure statutory audit requirements are completed per the client assistance schedule
- Collaborate with auditors, company secretary, and company directors for all statutory audit matters
- Ensure all statutory and fiscal requirements, deliverables and timelines are adhered to.
- Be the local advocate for the development and implementation of new policies and procedures in accordance with the overall Corporate Policies and Procedures
- Partner with APAC GBS, International, and Corporate Finance to ensure key metrics, processes, and best practices are consistently implemented
- Lead the affiliate through related internal and external audits in collaboration with the APAC GBS team
- Partner with L&C; S&G and GBS teams to ensure a sound internal control environment
- Provides and demonstrates leadership in accordance with the Affiliate / Biogen culture
- Participates on the Affiliate Leadership Team and in overall management of the Affiliate
- Drive a culture of transparency and accountability in the creation and adherence to policies and SOPs
- Work collaboratively and cross-functionally across the affiliate and global teams
- Demonstrate inspiring leadership and develop future Finance leaders
- Manage and coach direct reports for Finance and ensure proper delegation of projects and execution
- Ensure appropriate resourcing and allocation of workload within the Finance team, ensuring growth of individuals and the team
- Ensures compliance with Biogen regulations and local laws
- Ensure compliance with Biogen's code of business conduct
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Economics required; · MBA preferred;
- CPA or CA qualified professionals
- 10-15 years of professional experience in Finance/Accounting area
- Strong Team management experience with subordinates in a medium size organization
- Biotech/pharma experience is a plus, but not required.
