Location: This role can be based in either US or Switzerland. For Switzerland, Baar this will be as per our hybrid local HR policy

About This Role

The Associate Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs, Friedreich Ataxia (FA) will be a strategic partner providing expert medical leadership to guide development, launch planning, and support for our FA program to improve meaningful patient outcomes. As a key member of the FA Global Medical Affairs team, the Associate Medical Director will support development and implementation of the Global Medical Strategy for Biogen’s FA therapeutic area and will help maintain Biogen’s leadership in the global FA medical community.

What You’ll Do

  • Support development and implementation of cross-functionally aligned medical strategies for available therapies and launch planning activities.
  • Lead high-impact medical activities such as advisory boards
  • Supports FA evidence generation program by interrogating, analysing, interpret and publish research with Biostatistician, epidemiology, clinical and LCM teams
  • Lead the interpretation of the scientific data and the translation to the appropriate messaging and drafting manuscript of relevant scientific publications and communications 
  • Collaborate to design, execute, and oversee high-quality epidemiology/RWE studies and ensure that results are effectively communicated to key internal and external audiences.
  • Work closely with regional iCOE and North American colleagues to ensure a “one medical” voice in medical strategy and tactics.
  • Collaborate with clinical development to support global regulatory/market access requests (data generation, analysis, or dissemination)
  • Bring medical insights into the Global Medical Affairs strategy and broader cross-functional strategic and tactical plans.

Who You Are

You are a scientific and/or clinical professional with a passion for science and experience in Neuromuscular and/or Rare diseases. You keep patients, payers, and physicians top of mind in your daily work and collaborate to solve critical scientific and business challenges. You are a strong communicator and collaborator, with the capability to advance initiatives that will impact patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Education

  • Advanced degree required: MD, PhD or PharmD.
  • Minimum 4 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in a Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role &/or Field Medical based role. Substitution of industry work with relevant clinical practice experience in neuromuscular disease may be considered.
  • Experience in Neuromuscular and/or Rare disease is preferred.
  • Experience and expertise in developing, communicating, and executing a comprehensive medical affairs plan.
  • Demonstrated the ability to build productive collaborations with medical experts.
  • Strong working knowledge of US and ex-US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs.
  • Ability to travel 10-20%.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with medical launches as well as products at different stages of the lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $179,000 - $247,000.  Base salary offered is determined though an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location,
and internal equity.  

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term

incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed
to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on
individual, business unit and company performance.
