About This Role
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a rare, fatal, neurodegenerative disease characterized by the progressive loss of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. The onset of ALS is usually between the ages of 40 to 70 years, with the average age at diagnosis being 55 years. Unfortunately, the typical life expectancy following diagnosis is only 3 to 5 years.
The Associate Director, Marketing, Brand Lead - ALS will play a critical role and be a visible leader within the Rare Disease Marketing Team and the broader US Organization. You will be responsible continuing the launch momentum in the US and establishing a strategic direction through analysis of insights and building and executing a strong tactical plan. In addition, you will be tasked with engaging and supporting other geographies, imparting key learning to accelerate ex-US launches.

What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute the US commercial strategy working closely with medical and global teams
- Lead execution and implementation of tactical plan including disease state education campaign, genetic testing, media, and patient and HCP educational materials
- Lead the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, by applying advanced critical thinking (e.g., patient finding activities)
- Manage OPEX and full brand spend with a focus on maximizing contributions
- Work closely with Rare Disease Medical team to align strategy and ensure coordinated field efforts
- Lead annual ICP and AOP process for the brand
- Utilize customer and marketplace insights to identify, develop, and recommend initiatives that advance the brand
- Collaborate with Market Access and Reimbursement teams to accelerate time to therapy and improve the patient journey
- Partner with Corporate Affairs to capture and highlight patient stories and testimonials for internal and external use
- Build relationships with Key Medical Experts and ALS Advocacy organizations advancing Biogen’s reputation in the neuromuscular space
- Strong ability to negotiate in promotional review committees

Qualifications
• 7+ pharma or biotech commercial experience; minimum 5 years of marketing with at least 2 years within the US market
• Demonstrated ability to perform in fast-paced environments and influence without authority
• Strong digital marketing experience
• Field sales or reimbursement experience a plus
• Excellent communication/coordination/interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver executive presentations
• Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and motivate cross-functional teams
Preferred Skills
• Rare Disease experience
• Strong knowledge of the OPDP and US promotional environment
