Job Description Summary

The Technology and Global Services (TGS) organization partners with BD's businesses and regions to provide the application services, workplace solutions, and business process best practices to achieve BD's purpose of advancing the world of health. As a strategic, service-oriented organization, TGS brings together IT, Global Business Services, and Workplace Solutions into one integrated organization serving all of BD. The TGS Business Partner serves a key role in meeting this purpose.

This individual plays a critical role in working with stakeholders and fellow business partners to identify, prioritize, and shape opportunities to enhance and strengthen BD's strategic platforms. This person will be a key contributor in preparing appropriate solution direction and delivering projects in support of BD's Technology Roadmap. This role brings the appropriate technology, process, and workplace solutions together as they contribute to delivering on TGS's strategic vision.

The main objective of this role is to actively partner with stakeholders and peers within Technology & Global Services (TGS) to identify, prioritize, and advance key initiatives sponsored by Platforms, Infrastructure, Information Security, and Digital Transformation organizations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and foster a close partnership with the TGS Core Areas of Delivery Teams as your primary stakeholder. This would include understanding the team's structure, developing collaborative relationships with its leaders, and understanding short and long-term objectives as they relate to TGS's process and technology roadmaps
  • Work with other TGS business partner teams and external partners to define, document, analyze, and prioritize existing and emerging business requirements
  • Oversee projects through the TGS Operating System from idea creation through project approval, execution, and closure
  • Accountable for execution of highly integrated and complex projects. This includes activities such as reporting of project status to leadership, escalating and mitigating risk, conducting change management impact analysis, cutover planning, knowledge transfer, and transition to operational support
  • Work with finance partners in gaining funding approval for projects and budget tracking. This would include activities such as creation of POs, setting up capital accounts, and monthly tracking of actual spend
  • Work with partners in reviewing and selecting third parties as needed, engage with Vendor Management and Procurement in negotiating and implementing Statements of Work, and creation of vendor accounts
  • Ensure all projects go through required Validation and Regulatory reviews
  • Measure and communicate value realized on a periodic basis through defined and agreed upon metrics and supporting analysis
  • Ensure solutions are not siloed and are integrated with BD's enterprise roadmaps
  • Participate in yearly Annual Strategic Reviews of the TGS project portfolio.Engage with leadership to assist in compiling and prioritizing projects and programs for the coming fiscal year.Gather data to support TGS Portfolio Management and represent team members in presenting initiatives to a larger audience of senior management.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology or Engineering related field is preferred. Process or Technical certification is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of practical technology and business process experience, exceptional relationship building skills, and a solution-oriented mentality.

This person should also have:

  • 8+ years' experience in Information Technology with focus in three or more of the following technologies, processes, and service areas:

-SAP/ERP, Enterprise platforms supporting major business functions, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, Automation, EDI and Middleware

-Infrastructure Operations, Information Security, Collaboration Platforms, Service Management, and User Experience

-Shared Service Center Operations, Business Process Analysis, Master Data & Process Governance, Facilities Management and Workplace Solutions

-Digital technologies including automation or artificial intelligence

  • Functional and/or technical contributor in two or more large scale enterprise level platform implementations in support of multiple business processes
  • Experience in a regulated systems environment, including familiarity with GxP, SOX, and data privacy requirements
  • Advanced Proficiency in systems development life cycle documentation, testing and release cycle protocols including business requirements documentation, test scenarios/data/execution, cutover, hyper care
  • Proficiency in project management fundamentals: charter, case development, project management plan and schedule, stakeholder management, communication planning, budget tracking, risk/issue management, and status reporting
  • Good communication skills. Able to document and present information in a clear, concise manner. Able to communicate complex concepts in a manner appropriate to the audience
  • Ability to effectively plan and conduct project team meetings, setting agenda, assigning, and following up on task completion
  • Highly task oriented, able to manage several parallel work tracks according to hard timelines
  • Ability to influence and break down silos within and across organizations
  • Must have experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies with the ability to formulate new programs to generate excitement and engagement
  • Highly collaborative work style which includes working effectively across all organizational levels
  • Success in navigating through a highly matrixed organization and in overcoming ambiguity
  • Strong humility, listening, creativity, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage one's own work and function under pressure while accepting accountability for work
