Job Description Summary

BD is revolutionizing single-cell biology through the invention and application of technologies - such as BD Rhapsody™ and BD™ AbSeq - to enable researchers to delineate the complexity of biology. The successful candidate will be an excellent molecular biologist for the QC testing of BD multiomics products. She or he will empower the delivery of single-cell analysis pipelines and visualization solutions to a growing customer base. Success in this role requires strong molecular biology expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and motivation to enable customers with new technologies. The QC Associate II is responsible for independent routine, accurate and timely testing of QC samples according to standard protocols and operating procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of genomics, single-cell multiomics (scM) including cell culture, nucleic acid isolation/quantification, library prep, PCR, RT-PCR, and NGS skills.
  • Conducts tests, analyze data and report test results on raw materials, in-process and finished goods per operating procedures as assigned. Performs SAP transactions to record data.
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance program in QC including calibration and preventative maintenance. Contacts vendor for service when needed.
  • Identifies non-compliance with regulations and standards. Works with QA to address non-conformance and product failure.
  • Supports BPE to analyze and solve problems related to product failures and customer complaints (PIR).
  • Prepares and submits SOP, WI, routings, and standard costing for new products or document revisions into SAP.
  • Participates in QC Test Method and Equipment validation activities.
  • Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements and raises concerns/issues to the management.
  • Assist in training other associates in QC techniques, operation of equipment, or other relevant group or department procedures or practices and complete proper documentation.
  • Participate in group or intra-department teams, cross-training and projects as required to support other QC activities such as flow cytometry testing.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Promotes a safe work environment.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree or Master's degree, with relevant experience in a related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience in an industrial/research laboratory or equivalent; 1-3 years in an industrial QC environment, preferred.
  • Experience in an ISO/GMP-regulated production environment preferred.
  • Experience with NGS and Genomics data and analysis preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with single-cell RNA-seq assays or other NGS assays, highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of BD Rhapsody, AbSeq products and equipment, preferred.
  • Molecular biology and/or immunology background, preferred.
  • Familiarity with nucleic acid isolation, library prep, PCR, and RT-PCR techniques.
  • Flow cytometry experience desirable.
  • Experience in basic statistical analysis.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies, procedures, and complete required product records.
  • Previous experience in training associates, preferred.
