Main responsibilities will include:

  • Comply with safety standards and good laboratory practice standards (COSHH). Comply with all PPE requirements and manual handling regulations and training.
  • Prepare and sterilise (autoclaving) microbiological growth media to carry out routine test functions.
  • Conduct routine environmental monitoring of production facilities (active air sampling, passive sampling plates, finger dabs, gown contacts and contact plates where applicable).
  • Perform GMP checklist audit of production areas at the time of monitoring.
  • Carry out pre-sterilisation contamination level measurements of product, components and liquids and product sterility dose audits.
  • Maintain the microbiology laboratory and sterility suite room and apparatus therein, wash and prepare glassware, discard waste and cultures following appropriate practices.
  • Perform H&S and 5s' audits of the microbiology areas.
  • Conduct tasks associated with dose mapping.
  • Ensure that calibration and temperature monitoring is conducted at specified frequencies.
  • Carry out quality control growth promotion tests on test media.
  • Document all test results following all documentation / GMP requirements.
  • Prepare and supply sterile stopper lubricants to production.
  • Sanitisation of equipment / components for production.
  • Carry out plate reading and perform organism identification.
  • Prepare protocols, perform equipment/technique validations and write the final report.
  • Perform B/F and BET testing on all relevant products.
  • Perform dose establishment testing as required.
  • Write and amend procedures as required.
  • Carry out stock check, stock rotation, delivery receipt and ordering as required.
  • Service, calibration activity and contract maintenance to support Senior lab technician.
  • Collect routine product samples.
  • Irradiation of test products and sterilisation of items for internal and external sources.
  • Communicate all relevant information to the Senior Laboratory Technician to ensure smooth running of the laboratory.
  • Assist in process/product investigations as required, complete OOS check sheets.
  • Update SAP document for the microbiology department as required.

About you:

  • BTech or equivalent in relevant science subjects with experience in a laboratory which follows good laboratory practice standards (GLP) and COSHH.
  • Excellent communication skills, working with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with GMP practice.
  • Experience working in a scientific laboratory.
  • Experience within a manufacturing site/setting.
  • Strong PC skills, including full Microsoft suite.
